Favorite Scene or Quote from Each Film

What is your favorite scene or quote from each film? What is cool about this scene or quote?
(This picture is a fan favorite from Titanic, because it begins the romance; creates the conflict; makes women viewers swoon; and shows men how to be emotional. Earlier I think, Jack stands on the front tip of the ship saying he is "King of the World!" Pretty cool movie-making. Titanic won/was nominated for the most awards ever, I think.)

My favorite scene from V for Vendetta is when the citizens show up with their masks on. It is so memorable to see a movement like that, where all are united for a cause, for ideas. Bravo!

My favorite scene from American History X is the part where they are playing basketball. The black-and-white effect adds to the metaphor of racial tension and idea-clashing. It is really a shame that people in this country still are far too judgmental based on skin tone. We are 99.99% identical, regardless of what we look like. My hair is thick and straight because my ancestors were in a cold place, Scandinavia. The thickness of my hair keeps heat in, while the color my hair attracts the sun and retains the sun's vitamins. Black people have curly, black hair because the curliness allows heat to escape their heads and the blackness denies the sun's effects. There are physiologically differences, of course, but our minds are capable of exactly the same things.

I liked the scene in 3:10 to Yuma when they are in the town where the train is supposed to be and Ben Wade actually helps Dan Evans get him to the station. And then when Ben Wade shoots his own gang...it was not expected at all.

3:10 to yuma "we still arent friends dan"

My favorite scene from 3:10 to Yuma is when Ben Wade allows Dan Evans to take him to the train in Contention, Arizona. Ben Wade has full and total respect for Dan Evans; Ben Wade wishes he could be like Dan, with two good sons and a great wife. It is an action-filled scene where Dan even impresses Charlie Prince (who kills him, unfortunately, against Ben Wade's wishes). Charlie Prince says, "For a one-legged rancher, he's one tough son of a buck." Respect has been earned, because Dan was the only one to "succeed" in getting the nastiest villain on the train. What a scene!

My favorite scene in Unforgiven is when the old Will Munny comes out. He tells the townfolk that he will kill them, their wives, their children, their dogs, and burn their houses down if they shoot at him. He also tells them they must bury Ned right (correctly and spiritually) and never mistreat "whores"--or he will come back and "kill every last one" of them! Whoa. Sweet. Tough. Awesome. Cool. (And there is an American flag flying right next to his face, as he is riding on his white horse in the pouring rain.) Hard to beat that scene for burliness.

Explain your quote please, Jake.

Another scene in 3:10 to Yuma that I thought was pretty entertaining was when Dan Evans boy let the cows out on Charlie Prince.

Mr. C... you gotta have atleast 20 word responses you know... one two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven...twenty.

South Side said...

he wants a friend and he thinks that dan has the life with a wife and kids.

South Side said...

in the end they become friends and dan gets shot in the back by the princess then ben kills every one of his possey and gets back on the train.

Mr. Christensen said...

Tommy Boy--It is my job to make sure you're thinking more and having 20+ words per response. Some of mine might be shorter than 20--done for the purpose of stimulating young minds. Those short ones won't count toward my 20 total. Trust me, I'll have more than 20 with 20+ each. All I need from you is your brilliance and work ethic toward cinema. Can you do that?

Thank you all for diligently blogging today. Tuesday and Wednesday, we will blog even more to think even harder. Please help me help Jazmine, Rosa, Greg, and Margaret catch up.

"Gona hang me in the morning i whount see the sun agane" then Ben killed that dude with a fork in the night stabed it right in his neck.

My favorite scence from unforgiven when the writer thinks he is shot because he has blood on his shirt so he says "i've been shot" i like it just cause its funny cause if he was really shot he would feel it.

T-Barber said...

I like the same scene as eric does because I thought it was hilarious. Im pretty sure you would feel it if you were shot in the stomach.

My favorite scenes from V for Vendetta are the scenes of the explosions. I think it looks sweet and sounds sweet when the buildings are being destroyed.

South Side said...

my favort seen in unforgive us whin they shot the frist rancher becouse then he is crying for water then the three dudes start to yell at the other ranchers to give him so water and that they arent going to shot nobodey else.

Another good scene if Unforgiven is when William Munny finally gets pissed off and drinks the whiskey. He then goes into town and shows whos boss.

South Side said...

in the movie V for Vendata I realy liked "remember remember the 5th of November"says V in a singing tone.

My favorite sene in 3:10 to yuma is the same as SOUTH SIDES It show the respect that he has for the Evans family and that he is a good man.

Margaret B said...

In the 3:10 to YUMA the scene i really liked the most was when ben wade stabed the guy in the neck with the fork and if they did not show it then we would no t now on how bad n\ben wade really is and the movie would be incomplete

South Side said...

another good one is when v has a idea under his mask. then he sayes "I will kill you all befoer you reload thos guns of yours." then he takes out his dagers and kills them all. in a clean why but then that one sene is the scene whin he is about to die.

One of the more funny scenes from the movie Unforgiven is when Ned and the boy are upstairs getting some and they have to jump out the window while trying to piece clothing items back on.

South Side said...

in 3:10 to Yuma when the pinkerton gets out of the traler and gets that one dude then ben W. walkes over nice and slow makes it look realy cool and that there is no chanes that the pinkerton is going to live then bam right in ben's partner then bam right in the pinkerton's head all in about 2sec.

And to comment on American History X, I would have to say the best part of the movie or atleast the funniest part of the movie is when He finally gets out of jail and his fat friend comes over and wants to go eat right away. And while he is waiting he sits and spits m&m's all over.

My favorite scene in unforgiven is when he figures out ned was killed by little bill and dan evans goes to the saloon and has the scofield and the shotgun and he shoots the bartender and then missfires with his shotgun on little bill and then dan takes out the scofield and shoots 5 people and he was a great shot.

Mr. Christensen said...

Great point, Margaret--that stabbing scene is absolutely necessary to figuring out Ben Wade's character.

Mr. Christensen said...

About the writer, W.W. Beauchamp, being shot--what does that scene say about him? He's a wimp? He's never been shot? He's only in charge of communicating the myths and realities of "The West"; he's not supposed to be a part of the melee?

Mr. Christensen said...

The big buddy of Derek Vinyard is obviously lost in life. He's a total follower who has begun following the wrong leaders, much like many of the ordinary German citizens did in the 1930s. Scary.

Mr. Christensen said...

Ben Wade is one fast draw and shot!

Mr. Christensen said...

Maybe the fastest! Or, is Charlie Prince faster than Ben Wade? Is William Munny faster than both of them? Maybe Ben shot Charlie because of the surprise factor? Maybe William Munny is an older version of Ben Wade?!

Margaret B said...

one of my other favorites is when in v for vendetta where evey plaes a rose on v before she hits the go button and it shows on how much he has showed her about the life that everybody should be living it and to open her eyes to see on how bad things really are

T-Barber said...

I like the scene in 3:10 to Yuma when they are at the camp fire and he sings that "gonna hang me in the morning" song because that song got stuck in my head.

Anyone seen No Country for Old Men yet? Doesn't follow the usual formula for movie plots, but is a remarkable story, remarkably told. I was tense the entire film. Really a wicked show.

Michael H. said...

One of my favorite sence were when dan get ben to the train and dan gets shot sucks but when ben gets off the train and kills every single one of his men it shows the hatered toward his men that he is better than them.

Michael H. said...

A good secne that i thought was good was in AMERICAN HISTORY X was right away in the beginning when danel kills all the blacks that were breaking into his truck it shows the hatered that he has for them and the respect that he want from that.

Michael H. said...

In V for Vendetta the good sence i aways thought were good was when V played his music and everybody in the city heard it made them feel it was a sign of hope and a good feeling as well as me.

Mr. Christensen said...

Derek kills the thieves--a little rash, would you say? Getting the cops peacefully involved might have been a better option (one that would have kept him out of jail and kept his family intact and kept his brother alive). A DOMINO EFFECT OF EVIL!

Mr. Christensen said...

That V scene is touching/moving/inspiring.

Mr. Christensen said...

My (least) favorite scene in No Country for Old Men is in the beginning when Anton Chigurh (played by Javier Bardem, Oscar-winner) is strangling that poor cop. Chigurh's face is one of absolute, unpenetrable evil. Chilling, indeed.

Michael H. said...

In a neighborhood like that lets see you get the cops there in that quick amount of time and get them caught they had a gun and he defended himself and his property that why he only seved little time not life and his brothers testiffing.

Another good sence was when clint eastwood back at his home when he practices to shoot he cant hit a dam thing then he just gets the shotgun and blose it away it cool.
