Memories & The Giver

Tell us about a memory that involves the color red. Remember mine, falling off the garage? There was grey everywhere, except after I hit the ground. Include as much detail as you possibly can.

  2. I wasnt to happy with my mother one morning and she told me to go let the dogs out. Well when i went to let the dogs out the dogs were being a little more rowdy then i wanted them to be. Well in the process of getting control of the dogs i slammed both of my arms through the window. I had to get sticthes in my arm and live with the scars everyday.

  5. I remember last year during the dakota duals in Brookings i was in a very intense and rough match. The match was going back and forth and was a full 6 minutes of scoring. In the last period i was down by two points and I took a shot and the kid sprawled and I hit my chin on the mat. My mouth was opon and the right side of my tounge was in my teeth. I didnt think much of it since my adrenaline was pumping it didnt really hurt. As the match went on i kept tasting the taste of blood. When the match was done i walked of the mat proud of my victory and spit onto the floor and a chunk of my tounge was now laying on the floor. There was a lot of blood coming out.

  8. I actually have another memory of red. When i was working at the Hegan dairy farm during calving season us workers have to go out in the field with all the mad mama cows to get the new born calves, give them their shots, pills, iodine the naval, and put a tag in the ear. Well me and my fellow workers Mike McCoy, and Joe Nussbaum went out to the feild in my boss Bruces' red chevy pickup. Well i think the cows number was 97. We went out to the feild to tag number 97s calf. I jumped out the back of the truck to get the calf while Joe was driving, Mike had my back with the green louisville slugger, i tossed the calf in the back and started my work. Well as i was doin my work mike was watchin the tailgate. The mom was trying to get in. Mike was givin her everything she could handle i reckon, when she left the truck with her calf she was bleeding out the nose and the eyes.

  10. when i was young i was riding my bike down the sidewalk at my old house. It was summer time i dont know exactly what month it was but i know it was hot out probably august. I remember i still had training wheels on and i had a sweet blue bike it was my cousins. I was riding really fast that day thinking i was on top of the world showing off to my friends. All star Austin Sumner was there along with Trevor Martinmas. I rode my bike down the side walk across the street towards the drainage ditch. i rode up one side of the ditch and down the other. then again up the other side but on the way down my training wheel got stuck on the top and i fell down all the way to the bottom. I landed on my face and the was red everywhere. I ran all the way to my house and when i got there my mom was already outside she heard me yell. We washed it off. The next few days i had the biggest scab possible.

  11. I was working on my new house last summer. The summer of 2008. And do to the fackt that i do not own a truck. I owened a 1998 Red Cheve Cavalier. Now this car was no truck by any means. But i ran it like a truck. That summer alone that lil red car pulled out 2 bushes, the roof off the side shed that was on my geroge. As well as hold around 2 diferent lawn moweres and a ro-to tiller. Now this car was by no means ment to any of that. But that lil red car was a champ that summer. And to this day i'd give anything to have it back.

Then hanging them up in the tree an my grandpas and and the local cats eating the bloody snow witch I shot those to because They are the biggest problem in Worthing.Thats a story about red

  15. im going to tell you a story about a time when i got an insanely long and sick nose bleed. see in the dry seasons of the summer and i fall i get random nose bleeds. well this one particular day i got a nose bleed. whenever i usually get one i normally can stop them right away with a wad of toilet paper but this one was different. so i started with a big wad of toilet paper to clog up my nose to stop the nose bleed and after about like 10 to 15 minutes i pulled the toilet paper wad out and a giant peice of coagulated blood came running out of my nose along with a stream of blood and it took me about an hour to stop this nose bleed there was blood everywhere.

  17. The only thing that really comes to mind when i think about an event involving red was my first bloody nose. I was about seven or eight years old. My neighbor and I were jumping on a trampoline. We decided to play a game of crack the egg. The game consists of one person in the middle curled up in the feetle position. The jumper(s) on the outside jump around the "egg" to "crack it", which means the person in the middle comes out of the feedle position. Well i was the egg and as my friend was jumping I landed wrong and my knee smacked my nose and blood came gushing. Honestly to this day I have never played the game again.

  19. When I was frist learning how to ride a bike. I lived on dogwood in brandon. It was about mid july middle of summer. The day was sunny and really hot outside that day. The neighbor girl was coming home up the drive way going fast and I tryed to get out of the way and she hit my back wheel. I went knee frist and hit my knee on the paved drive way. When I looked down to it there was blood everywhere, just poring down my leg and I ran in side to my dad. When we went to the ER and they said they could see my knee cap and i will be a long time to get better. When we went home the drive way was covered in blood, my new bike and the whole house.

  21. My story involving red is when me and my cousin where playing paintball in my uncles backyard august 2005. It was very sunny and hot. I had on a white t shirt and blue jeans. My cousin had on a black t shirt and blue jeans. We had all are pads on and everything are whole bodys were covered in pads. we loaded are paintball guns up with balls. then we headed out in the corn field, this is when the corn field had all ready been cut, we were shoting at each other and we where having fun. about a hour into the war i had a lucky shot, he dint think it was lucky, and hit him in the mask. the mask broke and cut him really bad. he toke off his mask and he had a big cut on his face. Blood was gushing out of his wound on his face. you could all most see though his cut to the inside of his mouth. We ran to the house and told are uncle what had happened. He rush him to the hospital and he had to have 24 stickes. When he got the stickes out that weekend we went and shot at each other again. After he got a new mask, his one dint break.

  22. Well there was a time when Casey and I were at the dairy rounding up cattle to milk when the black and blue titted cow that I didnt milk for three days. And when I was chasing it it had a hole in it then I hit it with the four wheeler in the butt and the insides fell out of it. Dotty the dog started to eat it. I think the old workers Travis and McCoy shot it with a 243 because they didnt get a good enough pay check. I dont know where the hole titted cow went i havent seen it for about a week now.

  23. one time i was riding in my Go-Kart and riding it with my sister. she was driving and we were going around a light and flower bed in my front yard. when we were going around really fast she told me to hold on but i didn't because we have done it many times before and nothing had gone wrong. So this time the inertia made me fall out of the go-kart and lay next to the back tire. My sister kept going for a second until she realized i was gone. but it was to late the damage was done. I got my head and my arm ran over by the tire. And were both bleeding profusely. My leg was cut by the chain that rotates next to the tire. I woke up in the hospital room and all of my face, left arm and below my knee on my left leg were all dark red from the wet and dried blood pouring out of my gashes. i still have the scars on my head and leg but my arm one has faded over time. This story feels most intense with red to me because its the earliest one i remember. i have many more but thats is for another day and another blog.

  24. The time that really sticks out in my mind were red was involved it was a day that was pretty windy me and my little brother who was about 7 at the time. It was a rather windy day ao we thought we would go outside and fly a kite. So we went to the house to see if we had one laying around somewhere. Fortunetly we found it in a old toy box we had since we were babies. But it had no string so we had to start looking around again to see if we had any laying around. The string was found in the draws it was in a giant roll so we had to cut it. Our idea was for him to hold the string while i cut it with a scissors i found next to the string. The part that we never did think about was how dull the scissors were. He pulled the string as tight as he could, then i quickly snapped down the handles. Derrick jumped up i just sat there no exactly what i did till i noticed him holding his arm. I accidently cut his wrist leaving a gash down his arm, My parrents came running i was still sitting there schocked all the yelling the did i couldnt understand it. My dad got derrick to the car as fast as they could i stayed on the couch hoping that it was all fake. The biggest part the i will alway remember was when my mom looked at me and said you better hope your dad gets him there fast otherwise you just killed your little brother. He did come back though with many stitches and staples up and down his arm. About ten years later i dont ask him to hold anything for me to cut anymore.

This didn't really happen to me but I will always remember it. Well me and one of my friends were at a church with his mom because she had to clean the church. We found a wheel chair and we were riding around on it. It was only us two in the room and my friend was doin wheelies with it and there was a sharp part sticking out of the wheel chair. He fell back and it cut a huge gash in the side of his leg. I could see the muscles of his leg and there was blood everywhere. It was prolly the most disgusting thing I've ever seen.

  28. Hjelmen- When my little brother Eli was about six him and I were mowing the lawn. We had these scissors to cut along the fence. While I was mowing he was just cutting along and he jumped up and said that he cut himself. So I looked at it and the tip of his finger was cut off with blood just poring out of his finger. We went inside and showed it to my mom and Dad then there we went of to the doctor to get it fixed.

well I was hunting down by the creek at my old house, and I was searching for one peticular type of animal, rabbit to be precise. As i walk across the bend of the creek, a rabbit decides to cross my path. It stopped in the dead middle of the path I was using to move around the creek. As i raise my gun, it's ears twitch, it knew I was there so i knew i had to act fast, sqeezed the trigger. The bullets path went through one eye of the rabbit and out the opposite eye.

I was at Tailgators with my family and there was a guy who was in UFC and my fathers bud was talking to the UFC's girl. And the UFC dude came up to my fathers friend and started to fight so my father jumped on his back and put him in a head lock and he's a UFC fighter so he got out of it and turned around and head butted my father in the nose and started to bleed, but after that he was still fighting until the PIGS (police) showed up.

One time I was riding my blue bike down a sidewalk near the brown apartment complex where I used to live. It was a slightly cloudy day, not too hot not too humid, it was perfect weather for a bike-ride. As I was leisurely strolling along I hit a very rough-spot on the concrete and I went head-first over the handlebars of my blue bike and turned the gray pavement red with my chin’s Kool-Aid. I didn’t notice what had happened because I had blacked out for a bit, but all I remember is waking up and looking at the pool of blood that had flowed out of my chin and onto the gray pavement. I felt my chin and looked at my hand and it was just pure red. I was young at the time and I started crying and screaming for help and Kayla T. (my former neighbor) came flying out of the apartment her and her family lived in and she helped me up and got me to my mom and my mom rushed me to the hospital with blood still flowing from my chin. All it took was three stitches and it was sewed up and it left a cool scar on my chin.

  34. I remember one time when i was driving home with my freind, couple winters ago. Mabey 3-4 hours after a fresh snow and sub zero weather made the preiovsly melted snow into black ice. we were speeding because his mom called saying he has get home before something bad happens. It was a boring day, everything was white, everything snowed in. The only real colors were patches of the road were it has been plowed lightly. We were driving down a side street to try to be faster and we missed a stop sign. We t-boned a really nice Toyota Tundra truck and my hand with flying thru the side window. I was cut up really bad but then i looked over at my freind who had 3 huge gashes under his jaw. Blood was dripping and soaking his plain white shirt. I was young about 13 and i thought he was going to die so i called the ambulance and started freaking out. I will always remember that day,

My best memory that i can remember that involves the color red happened about two or three summers ago after i had gotten back from wild water west from hanging out with some friends on a hot humid day and when we got home we decided to just have fun and screw around so we took the dirt bikes and four wheelers out after we had our take out we ordered from pizza ranch, the night was really gloomy and dark and there was no lights and we were racing and playing tag on quads then decided to have more fun and make it more interesting so i decided to start jumping and then we all got tired of the small hills so i suggested jumping the wood chip pile i had sitting in the field for my landscaping business but no one was up to it besides for me so of course i wanted to act out among every one and be cool so i went for it slowly and tried to climb it and then pop a wheelie going over it but when i got to the top i rolled over flipping the quad onto my leg with the tire rubbing into it ripping the skin deeper and deeper with blood just going all over and the place and then i started flipping out and screaming when i couldn’t get up and my friends were laughing because they thought i was joking and nothing was serious and when they finally were convinced that i was hurt and they helped me up and said that it was a deep cut and i needed to go to the hospital i said no and started to cry, I was very scared i hate hospitals and never have liked them so i took a old shirt and rapped it around my leg with a belt and laid down to sleep off the pain and then when I woke up I told my parents about it when they got home from work and my mom said go to the hospital and my dad said it was fine so i went and cleaned it up and fixed it all up and then went outside and tried to fix the damage that i could find by inspecting the atv which had oil leaking from the rear end case but hasn’t had any sense and oil from the oil plug but i made a new rubber grommet and have been good to go sense and i never ended up going to the hospital and what’s left from that whole accident is a scar that came from being foolish and doing something that wasn’t a good idea and was completely unsafe.

  37. A memory I have where I remember red was, I was bmxing by this 10 stair all day I have been wanting to bunny hop the 10 stair but every time I went to the jump it I sketched out and didn’t go, but finally I got the guts to do I bunny hopped as high as I could and then I landed a little hard, so I decided it wasn’t good enough and tried it again, then again I didn’t land right, so the third time, I went all out and lost my footing, and slipped and fell and then landed on my left arm and it hurt so bad, I looked at it the my bone was sticking out of my arm blood was everywhere, but it was still a great day because I landed the trick. When I went to the hospital they had to put a steel plate in my arm stitch my arm up and I was good to go. Since then I have gone back to the 10 stair and landed it perfectly
