The part that I think is the funniest is when McMurphy gets all the guys on the bus and takes them all to go fishing. I think this is funny because the guys are experiencing there first time fishing. When they get the bait in there hand, they all look at it awkwardly. One of the guys freaks out because he still thinks its real and he has to put a fishing hook through its eye.
I think the funniest part of the movie would be when McMurphy took all of the patients on the bus and took them out to go fishing. The part that stuck with me which is hard to forget is When McMurphy told the guy that there all doctors and played along with it. On part three of the book page 160, it says how baseball season is now over McMurphy decides to go fishing. He requested another pass to the doctors and said he had some friends at the Siuslaw Bay at Florence who would like to take eight or nine patients to go out to deep sea fishing if it would be ok with the staff. The meeting was past the next weekend. The nurse is writing his pass in her roll book. They're going to be fishing outside of Oregon and in that morning she noted that it might be rough and dangerous which suggested the men would give it thought. Nurse Ratched rented a boat and explained it can be dangerous of wrenches of boats and storms then McMurphy says his two Aunts have spent their whole life bouncing around in the waves. Lastly, everyone had real experience with smiles on their faces and that's what you call real therapy.
The funniest part i think so far is that chief know a lot more than they know about and they don't know he can take. And so he can sneak around and have people not know. And then McMurphy says his two Aunts have spent their whole life bouncing around in the waves. Lastly, everyone had real experience with smiles on their faces and that's what you call real therapy. I the one thats says i want my cigarettes i want my cigarettes He requested another pass to the doctors and said he had some friends at the Siuslaw Bay at Florence who would like to take eight or nine patients to go out to deep sea fishing if it would be ok with the staff. They were all of the place in this book and movie having a good time. I don't think there could be a couple there is hundreds of funny parts in the is book anything could be funny if you really think about it
The funniest part in the movie is when they are on the bus and they all go fishing. I think its funny because when they first got to the boat he lied about who he was and made the others smile and have fun.
roths One of the funny parts in the novel. I would have to say that the funniest part that i found was on page 10 which is the part where Mcmurphey shows up at the ward. The reason that i find that funny is because when he is at the ward it is his first day and he is not been around the same boring routine like the others and he is also more lively and active he seemed like he was glad to meet the other people. Now why that funny is because Mcmurphey is more exciting and more lively than the others and he acts like abit of a goof and acting like that make the workers and the nurse think that he is somehow mentally unhealthy which is why he at the ward. But i think that the people in the ward could use some interaction around normal people and also be more active in their activities so i think that it is a good think that Mcmurphy was at the ward for a while because it helps the other become more happy and more alive and less robotic which is a good thing for him and the others.
page 10, the part of when Mcmurphy is just getting there introducing himself to everyone and heads over to some card game going on and he starts to say how much he gambled and what not. The book says, "He walks to one of the card games, tips an Acute’s cards up with a thick, heavy finger, and squints at the hand and shakes his head.“Yessir, that’s what I came to this establishment for, to bring you birds fun an’ entertainment around the gamin’ table. Nobody left in that Pendleton Work Farm to make my days interesting anymore, so I requested a transfer, ya see. Needed some new blood. Hooee, look at the way this bird holds his cards, showin’ to everybody in a block; man! I’ll trim you babies like little lambs.” I kinda find that funny because with him being so calm and saner than the others and says that he is meant to come here to help the "birds" have fun with more entertaining games. He is at this point being the first id say hour being there calling out nurse ratchet. I find it funny because the guys are all confused and yet they are going to have fun with a more practical normal game.
Keisha Felcher. I think that the funniest part is when McMurphy tells the guys who he is. He says his name and winks and says I’m a gambling fool. He also starts to sing a song along with the wink too. He also talks about laying a deck of cards down that he plays with his money and then he laughs.
I think the funniest part in the novel is when he introduces himself and then goes over to the game and tells them how much of a fool he was for gambling and tells them that's why he's there is to entertain them and make them run for their money. I think that this shows that he is there to show these guys a good time and how to have fun and not be so depressed all the time. -zoie hite
The funniest part about the movie was when Mcmurphy and all of the patients left and took the bus to go fishing. The funniest part that stuck with me was they pretend they were doctors and everyone played along with it. On part three of the book on page 160, it says in the book that baseball is now over and Mcmurphy decides to go fishing. He requested a pass for everyone else and himself at Siuslaw Bay at Florence that he would like to take eight or nine patients to go deep sea fishing and also said it was alright with the staff. In the book, it also says that the meeting was past next weekend and the nurse was writing a pass in her book. Nurse Ratched rented a boat to take a fishing trip to Oregon and the morning of the trip he informed the patients that it might be rough and dangerous of wrenches of other boats and also storms. Mcmurphy said after she informed all the patients that his two Aunts have spent their whole life being the ocean bouncing around the ocean waves. Finally, everyone has real-life experiences and had smiles on their faces and a had a great time and that’s what I think real therapy should be about.
The part of the book i find to be most funny is the part of the book where they are arguing about their cigarettes. The reasoning for that is the person who was yelling and throwing a fit was explaining how he isn’t a little kid and shouldn't have his cigarettes regulated to him like cookies being kept from a kid. Also after he said that he looks at murphy for approval or for him to back him up but murphy just sat there in silence and ignore everyone. I found that to be funny because they are just cigarettes like he was saying how they weren't little kids and all but they are all throwing a fit over them even though it was their fault for trading murphy stuff for the cigarettes i found that part to be ridiculous and really over exaggerated. -Frederickson
I think the funniest part that I could find in the book is after Chief escaped the institution. Chief busted through the window with what RP McMurphy was planning on smashing through the window and escaping. After Chief escaped he headed out the way he saw the dog running towards. He decided to take this way because he believed it was the way to freedom and that he would finally be a free man if he got to his finalized destination. When he ran out the way he did he discovered a highway. Now, this is the funny part to me. Chief said he hitched a ride with a Mexican guy who was pulling a truck full of sheep. I think it's funny just because of the randomness of the part of the novel. Chief got lent $10 from the guy who was pulling the heard of sheep along with him in his vehicle because he said he was journeying to Canada so the guy thought he needed some money for food while he was on his way up there. Chief being the good guy he is had the guy write his address down so he could repay the man for the convenience and the money he had lent him for food. Page 324 Larson
I think the funniest part was when Martini didn't understand how gambling works with a cigarette. When Martini and McMurphy where playing cards and betting by the 10 cents or one cigarette and Martini figured that if one cigarette is worth 10 cents than tearing it in half would make it worth 5 cents. This part is funny because it is pretty obvious to most people that a cigarette ripped in half is worth nothing but because Martini has a hard time understanding it makes perfectly good logical sense in his brain. He sees the cigarettes as currency the same as money rather than as a useful object even though he also smokes cigarettes. It is also funny how Martini is in a way so accidentally selfish that he is unable to even wait his turn. Martini tells McMurphy "hit me" over and over again because he thinks the whole word revolves around him. Martini does not mean to be selfish but he is just not aware that others are just as complex inside as he is so he seems to often act like he is the only one in the room. This scene is funny but also very sad just because it goes to show that for a person like Martini, even the most simple tasks are extremely hard to understand and he just has a very hard time wrapping his mind around things. -Wardlow
The page fifty two through sixty two were rather funny, but not until the very last page. Harding is being spoken to by McMurphy and he is explaining to Harding what a pecking party is. He explains how Nurse Ratched is turning them on each other. He wants Harding to understand that Nurse Ratched is a "b*tch". Harding goes into a ramble about how that couldn't possibly be, McMurphy speaks more about how its true and says some more awful stuff about the Nurse. Harding goes into a long story about how the Nurse helps people all week long and all day. He then goes on to speak about how she helps people during the weekend and donates money. He talks about how she donates food for charity. He goes on for a while and speaks faster and faster until he runs out of breath while speaking and puts his head in his hands. The funny part was he uses McMurphy's words and just quietly but forcefully says in his hands, "The b*tch, the b*tch, the b*tch". It was such a one eighty from what I was reading and understanding that I might even consider Harding bipolar if he had reacted that way in person or real life.
page 160 when he's cleaning toilets and nurse ratchet is telling him it's not clean enuff for her and he said "mabey it's not clean enuff for some people but myself I plan to piss in them and not eat lunch out of them" which is funny because who cares if the toilets are dirty nobody is going to see them except the people in the mental ward so who would care if they are shining clean. then he's making jokes to the nurse and saying that he's not going going to make the mark as a head man of the carriers which is just mocking her saying that his job is a joke to her. then he sticks a piece of gum with some paper on it to scare her and make her drop her mirror into the toilet.
I think the funniest part is when Cheswick goes off on Nurse Ratched that he wants his cigarettes back. How he is interrupting everyone about his cigarettes. McMurphy tries to calm him down and he just keeps getting angry about his cigarettes. He doesn't get how they got the cigarette privilege taken away from gambling. It's also funny how martini didn't know how to gamble and would always yell out hit me even when its not his turn. everyone in the game is starting to get pissed off at him. Finn
Valdez- The funniest part of the book to me was also one of the most eye-opening sayings "He knows that you have to laugh at the things that hurt you just to keep yourself in balance, just to keep the world from running you plumb crazy." Saying that you need to laugh through the pain or you will end up making yourself go crazy. If you never have fun are you even a human? I believe that laughing and having fun is just natural to me I always love to make jokes and do fun things.
The funniest part of the novel would be on page 93-94 because it is about McMurphy asking for some toothpaste. It is from Chief's point of view so he sees it while he is moping. McMurphy walked up to one of the janitors and asked him if he could have some toothpaste to brush his teeth. The janitor told him he couldn't get it out and he would have to wait for it. McMurphy said a few things to the janitor after that to try to convince him to get some. But the janitor was cleaning the baseboards along the wall with some soap. So McMurphy asked him what was in the bucket. The janitor told him what was in it. McMurphy said to him "I usually use paste but this will do." The janitor stood up and got mad at McMurphy, he yelled at him to get back to his bed and wait. But Chief had stopped moping and was smiling at what McMurphy did. The janitor yelled at him and told him to continue moping. He walked over and pushed Chief the other way and told him to start moping. I think it is an important part of this book with also being one of the funnier parts too.
I think the funniest part of the book is that when mc Murphy takes all the patience fishing because at first, they don't know where they go because they are just on their normal routine and then McMurphy starts driving the but to the pier. the funny part is that they get on this boat and they don't know what their doing and then McMurphy wants them to try and fish and all he really teach him is to bait the line but he doesn't really teach them how to throw out the line and it's the first time these guys have ever done something like this because everybody else pushes them down and mc Murphey tries to bring them up. Also when McMurphy tries and plays basketball with chief the very first time chief doesn't know what McMurphy wants him to do and he raises the basketball up but doesn't shoot and then when they play the game chief blocks the ball from going in the net and he actually smiles for once.
