The boy's dream was to emphasize that he feels the same way about his father and he loves him more than anything and you do anything for his father, and then pitiless dark to me sounds like something really cruel or having like no pitty in a way and less means not a lot of something some having or showing no pity and then it would be like just pitch black. Having no pity would mean you don't really care and you choose not to have many feelings and you just want to be cruel and hating people and things. Someone like that would be the cannibles wanting to kill the son and father.
The first one I’m going to talk about is dad's cough. His cough doesn’t start off being bad because you’re in an apocalypse and you’re breathing in all of the dust and other things around. What I think causes his coughing is Tuberculosis because he is coughing up blood. His cough starts getting worse and worse as time goes on. After a while, the kid starts getting nervous because he doesn’t know what is wrong with his dad, but his dad lies to him and tells him nothing is wrong. I feel like the dad is on the point where he doesn’t care anymore because the coughing up blood isn’t gonna stop and he knows he is gonna die but won’t tell his kid. I think the dad should just tell the kid what is wrong because the kid is gonna have to find out the hard way when his dad doesn't wake up or just drops.
The other one I’m gonna talk about is Ely. I think Ely did that smart thing by not telling them his name and lying about how old he was. He was smart because if he told them his age and he was a younger person they would eat him. But they wouldn’t want to eat someone who is 60-80 years old or older. I think Ely outsmarted them because they could have been cannibals and next thing you know that dad and son are eating him but they gave him some fruit and he devoured that because he probably hasn’t eaten in a while. Ely could definitely outlive most of the people during the apocalypse because he has been alive longer and why would someone want to kill an old man if he doesn’t seem to be a threat. He could outlive them because he knows where all the good things are and could keep them for himself.
I am picking the word no propane and the beach. I am picking these two for a reason that I will be explaining in the next minute. The reason I picked no propane is that gas plays a big role in this book. The reason it does is that it will help with cooking food so you don’t die with uncooked food. Also, it will help you light the way so you can see what you are doing at night so you don’t get lost or even get hurt. Propane is also dangerous because it can alert people where you are at. Also, it is very dangerous the reason for that is if a bullet hits the tank that it is in it could explode. The other word I picked was the beach. The reason I picked this word is that it could get used as an escape. The reason I brought that up is that it helps people get away from other people and also helps them relax. The sand at the beach is nice when the sand just gets hot enough it feels really good on your feet so it can relax your whole body. Pfeiffer
Well, first of all from 188 to 205 we found out they think someone is following them. I don't know how I would feel about that but I think he knows he can't do anything about it if it's a group because he only has 1 or 2 bullets and he is planning to use that for him and his son if something worse happens. To me, I think the people could have taken their propane but I guess we will never know.
the boy's dreams are getting worse you can tell, he is talking about it more and not wanting his dad to go. he wants his dad to live but I think he knows deep down that he is going to die soon and that he is going to be alone. he is scared, he doesn't want to be in this world without his dad but he wants to live too. that's why it is so hard for him to talk to his dad about it because he wants to enjoy the time he has with his dad now.
I'm pretty sure the dad knows the sea won't be blue because look at the sky, it's not blue so the sea wouldn't be. he probably just wants to give the boy something to hope from. to me, I feel like hope is the only thing helping them stay alive. the dad really thinks he can give a better life to his son then dying. I really hope he is right because he is a great dad and I know he loves his son.
Ely was a old man they found on the side of the road the man didnt have anything and im not sure how he was living ley isnt his real name he dosnt want anyone to know his real name because he dosnt want know one to be looking for him so if he uses a different name every time people will never know who he is the old man can barely walk he can barley see he knows your there but no what you look like when they ask the old man if he would like something to eat he askes what do i have to do for it witch makes you wonder what hes done to get food are they feeding a killer who knows the man clams that hes 90 so people wont beat on him but they still do he smells really bad and to smell worse then other people it would be really hard considering they dont take showers they dont have soap or deodorant ely aint dinner with them the boy was so nice to him he even gave the old man some food to go taking way from the only food they had is a big move on knowing where your next meal is coming from would be scary but what do you do i guess they will figure it as life will go on with or with out you so they split ways and the boy and his day are heading south again meier
When they ran out of propane it shows how forgiving the father is. When the boy thought that it was his fault the father said no it wasn't and put the blame on himself. The dad's cough shows that he is sick and dying. On page 198 they saw a charred human infant headless and gutted. This is terrible, it shows what people turn into to survive. They eat other humans, including children. It also makes me think that maybe people have kids just to eat them.
when the kid had the dream about his dad not waking up it was telling us that he loves his father and does not want to lose him. The dream represents love and care because it is not likely to have a dream about that sort of thing unless someone is in bad condition and you dream of the worst possibility and you really care about them. the boy's silence's throughout the book have helped make it interesting. whenever something occurs that is out of hand or violent, the kid goes silent towards his father. The dad probably does not like it, but he knows that the boy will get over it. if the boy continued to talk during these scenes that are created, the book would probably have less interesting parts as well. sure it might seem dramatic of the kid for going completely silent at times, but he can't go anywhere to cool down or get away from it. miller
The dad has gone through so much stuff with the kid. They have come all this way and survived so many nights. And now he is coughing and is really sick. The boy is worried but does not know how to care for a sick person. The dad is weak and is not looking too well for him both of them. without the dad, the boy will now survive for long. I think the dad is old and does not have a good immune system to handle the dabre and the smokes that he is breathing in. that is why I think is causing him to get sick. Also, the lack of food and water they are getting isn't so good for someone's health, They need to stay healthy and strong to make it out alive.
The first thing I picked was Ely. I chose to write about Ely because of how he looked, acted liked, and what he says. when the dad and the boy first run into Ely. the boy felt bad for him because of how skinny he was and how he looked. when they talked to Ely he didn't really say anything because he didn't want to get hurt. what sucks is when the dad asked for his name and age he didn't give him his real name and age because he didn't want to get hurt but it never worked. I liked how the dad and the boy let him stay and eat with them before Ely left. the second thing I'm writing about is the dad's cough. I'm writing about it because I think it's sad how the dad is dying and he can't do anything about it to try and stop it. I think it sucks how the dad is going to die soon. And after he does die what will happen to the boy. will the boy ever find his way to the coast? will he find another good family that will take him in. or will he end up dying with dad. how will the boy cope with the death of his dad?
The boy's dream has me very worried about this book because what if it happens for real at the end of the book. Whenever I see someone in a movie/TV show or a book all they think about is bad things happening to them or their loved ones. After their dream it happens for real and sometimes it doesn't. The reasons why I get why they have these dreams is because they worry too much and show a huge amount of care and the dream possibly gives them a heads up for what's going to happen to them or their loved ones or something way worse than that. If this doesn't happen for real in the book well I got through this book with a somewhat happy ending. If it happens for real I hope the boy will know how to survive without his dad and live happily ever after. However, if they both die I will hate this book like I did with the movie and book of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. The reason why I hate it is because it doesn't serve a purpose to me and they didn't make any sacrifices or none of the above. So I hope those two endings are true, because if we get the third one in my prediction I won't like it and read it ever again for the rest of my life. But I still have high hopes for those two endings in my prediction and theory.
Ely is an old guy that the little boy and the man saw on their way south. The dad was not going to stop to help him but the kid said he wanted to so the dad said ok. So they stoped and gave him some food and they talked a little about Ely. The man got to talk to him and the man figured out that the olf man was lying about his age and his name. The older man told him that he was 90 years old and his name is Ely and the old name said later that it was not him name and he was not 90. The man asked why he lied about this stuff and the old man said because then the cannibals won’t eat me or hurt me. The cannibals still beat him up pretty good. The man did not want to take the older nam with them down the road and the kid wanted to help him. The dad said ok only for a little bit. They made a little fire for them and had some food and water. They first thought it could have been a trap for the cannibals but they figured out it was not so they were safe. The kid felt really sorry for the old man and the dad was like whatever it’s just another old man hes going to die anyways. The kid wanted to feed him and give him warmth and the dad did not want to at first but he gave into his kid and said ok we can. I think the dad said no at first because he didn’t know if it was a trap or not for sure.
Gurung Leaving, I choose this word. First I will talk about leaving. I don’t know the actual page but on some page there is a conversation between dad and son and they talk about leaving. I think it's talk after dad coughs. The son said to dad are you gonna die, are you gonna leave me, papa. That part is so sad for me because that’s the emotional part I read so far in this novel.
I am gonna talk about the boy’s dreams. The boy's dreams are getting worse because he wants to live with dad so I think after coughing he knows his dad is gonna die. If his dad dies it's gonna be so hard for the little boy to live. I don’t think the boy is going to survive in that place without a dad.
"The Pitiless Dark." I have my thoughts and opinions about this simple but multi-meaning phrase. I think in more simple terms. When you passed away, you are greeted with nothingness, simply nothingness. Nothing to meet you or provide anything besides blackness to greet you. No praise, no pity, no hate, no violence...nothing.
The boy woke up from a dream it was about dad. He sees the dad is going to die soon and that he is going to be alone. It is so hard to talk with dad about the dream. He wants to enjoy the time he has with his dad now.

Ely I can’t really say that I know why the author placed this part in the book, or why he gave him the only name within the book, but it obviously has significance. The father trusts Ely very little, which he is not to blame. The boy on the other hand wants Ely to join them and help him continue to “carry the fire” which isn’t really an option. Ely shares a lot of shady things with the father, things that only prove how suspect the new world is. It’s very hard as a reader, let alone using the father or son's view as it’s the world they live in, but they’re in a time where not just anybody survives. Especially someone older than most.
The Ocean I could only imagine the ocean being something completely opposite than it actually is. It’s almost something that people wouldn’t want to think about. Many people throughout the world enjoy the ocean because it truly is one of the most beautiful and mysterious things anyone could ever come upon. If you were to ask anybody within the world, I’m sure they would describe it as a deep and beautiful mass in which they find happiness to a certain extent. It’s almost even harder for me as I used to live about a quarter mile from it. It’s almost something so beautiful that you could never visualize it as a gray, ashy, wasteland. I believe it would only make it harder to find joy within it.
The dream the boy had showed that he feels the same way about his father as his father does him. He loves him, appreciates him, supports him, looks out for him. Above all, the boy wouldn’t be able to go on without his father, just like his father wouldn’t be able to go on without him. They have an equal connection and appreciation towards each other. Dad’s cough indicated that the father was possibly getting sick, the boy gets worried and doesn’t know what’s going on. Just like with the paragraph before, the boy doesn’t want to lose his father, and wants to help him as much as he can. The father tries to reassure him, as with the environment they live in, coughing should be pretty common. The sickness only gets worse as he starts to cough up blood, and that’s where the boy gets really concerned, as this has never happened before.
