I think so far it is a good film but I don't know if it will keep my interest the whole times because I hate when he hits the girl. it is a very good movie and I would remanned It to people if they are looking for a good film to see what goes on in the world and how people live. some of us live better than most people in the world.I this for the most part it seem like it is true on some of the real factores like the dad having heart problems and how he goes to the hospital without anyone knowing that he goes to the hospital and then hushpuppy found out because he has a robe and a wrist bandage from the hospital and she really mad at him because he wasn't supposed to leave and go get help because they don't believe in medicalliance help. They were supposed to be strong and not go anywhere besides there.
I think that the real events of someone's life that could have actually happened would be Gran Torino. I think that the movie really showed the real-life events of a person's life that never told the tale of the events. With so many people that are in this world they never just go out and say it and I believe that this is a story that would be a real life of someone that fought in the war and is really sexist and racist. This movie showed a lot of ways how people lived in the past and yet in the future. I would highly say that it was a movie to show how people can change and will change if they think hard on something. The movie shows how well Walt can hate a person or things and yet change and give his prized possession away to the one kid that tried to seal it. The movie has so many lessons in itself of learning to basically be a man and work on stuff without quitting. I saw after a couple of times of doing this we are now narratologist because we know what to do. We do not just watch it but we study the fill and see what it teaches.
I couldn't say any particular movie or book we read so far this year has had the greatest impact on me because I see all of them as a singular and growing lesson. There is so much to learn I can't prioritize or glorify just one of these amazing memories and thoughts or discussions. The things I have learned and the things I hope to learn should stay with me for the rest of my life and I am glad to have had the opportunity to be here and learn these things. The best lessons are the ones that talk about the little things but the most important ones are the big lessons that teach philosophical and moral reasoning. It is not every school that gets the opportunity to employ teachers like Mr. Christensen. I wonder sometimes whether or not the next lesson will be capable of outdoing the last and yet I have been surprised to find that the meaning and complexity of these stories almost doubles with each viewing. I think this is evidence that we are simply becoming better narratologists, not that the movies are having more meaning behind them as we progress. Of course we must be motivated to want to study these films and I think the one that I was most motivated to study was the Life of Pi.
I have liked Gran Torino the best because I think that it perpetuates really well how someone that hates a race, can be biased and change how they feel just by getting to know one individual really well and coming to help them grow in their life and be better than he was or the kid's cousins are. I also think it depicts really well that you never know what someone would do for you and he really gave his life to give the kid a better life and I think that shows a lot about how his character changed throughout the movie. Also yes, I think all of us have become better narratologists and that we will continue to be great narratologists for probably the rest of our lives.
My favorite narrative this year was Gran Torino I thought the movie showed how someone that lived during the Korean war and their lifestyle was different than ours generation today. I hated how Walt Grandchildren would disrespect Walt and think they could just get away with it. My favorite part about the movie is how Walt has a father-son relationship with Thao and his sister Sue. There’s a part in the movie when Sue and her boyfriend Trey are walking around when they approached a bunch of gang members and they harass Sue and Walt See them harassing Sue and he approaches them and tell them to get lost and pretends he has a gun it also shows how people in past shows how they treat everyone else and say different words that mean different meanings like we don’t use today. I also think the movie show’s real-life events that people can relate from experience they can take from the movie. I believe this a story that as mean towards because someone that fought in a war wouldn’t want to tell everyone what they experience during the war. I would highly recommend this movie because it shows how someone can work hard for what they have in life and stay they bought and earned themselves and be proud of what they have. The movie shows how someone that doesn’t really show their emotions and feeling for everyone and can change the way they see life and care for someone example how Walt was just a grumpy old man that didn’t want to deal with everyone and at the end of the movie he changed and cared for people after the Thao was trying to steal Walts Prized Possession and surprisingly end up giving it to him after he passed away. Yes, I think we are now narratologist because we can watch a movie and take out the meaning of the movie instead of someone just watching the movie and not taking anything from it.
My favorite narrative that I would say is Mad Max but it's also tied with Gran Torino. The one that interested me the most was probably Grand Torino. I loved how they were both action-packed and a lot of things to point out in class that I would never think before just watching it myself. Gran Torino is my favorite out of the other movies we studied. I loved how Walt loves American made cars which are a ford gran Torino he has back in his shed. I also loved the look and the color green it has on it. Walt has been in combat back in the day and doesn't live in the best neighborhood with gangs, people that cook their animals and don't speak English. Walt wife is probably the only person that made him feel good and happy to move on with his life but then she passed away which his kids don't care much about by wanting to put him in a nursing home. The kid next door actually made him feel good by fixing things along the yard and Walt providing him with a toolset. Lastly, Walt cared for him and respected him so he gave him the car that is most pride and joy to him. Narratology lets us pay attention to the movie and the details of the movie that we may not notice before also examines it in a cool way that makes us love it or hate it.
My favorite narratology that i think is the best would have to be the one who flew over the cuckoo's nest and the reason that i like that one is because it shows us that it is better to be different to not fit some kind of a mold or follow the same routine over and over and that is what mcmurphey does for the others in the ward he shows them that they don't have to do whatever the nurse tells them to do. Have we gotten better at narratology. I would say yes because the more that you do it and practice it the better you get at it. So we definitely have been able to recognize thing in the movies like how they react and how they change throughout the story for example mcmurphey changes everyone's point of view and shows them that you don't always have to follow the same routine over and over again. Another thing that the movie shows us is that it is ok to be different or unique and also not let someone change who you are like the nurse was trying to do to the people in the ward which is not right to change people or make them different they should stay who they are
My favorite movie was Grand Torino. I say that because it shows how people lived during the Korean War. There is only one thing I didn't like during the movie and that was when the kid was walking home from work and his cousin's took all of his working supplies. My favorite part about the movie is when Walt stand's up for the kid and forgives the kid when he tried to steal the Grand, Torino. I also didn't like it at the beginning when Walt's grandchildren disrespected there grandma at her funeral, were on their phones and not dressed very nicely. I was glad at the end when Walt gave his car to that kid that wanted to steal it at the beginning of the movie.
My favorite movie that we watched was Grand Torino because it showed how Walt had bad PTSD from serving in the Korean War. It shows how war can be a big impact on someone and how they live every day. Walt's neighbors are Korean and he doesn't like them very much. When they bring over food to say thank you, he has a hard time accepting it all. They bring it over because Walt protects the boy from the kids on the street that are threatening him. At the end of the movie, Walt gets shot and killed by Korean men. At his funeral, in his will, it says that he wants to give his Torino to the Korean boy that lived next door to him. But this has been my favorite movie so far this year.
My Favorite Narrative so far this year was Life of Pi for sure because first of all I never saw the movie before the time that we watch it. The reason why I think it is so good is that it shows that Pi wanted to be jealous and he believes in god and his dad didn't believe in god and he stuck with it and he didn't listen to his dad and wanted to do that was good for him. His mother supports the whole time and did not heist to tell the father to just let him believe in what he wants to do. I like the part in the life of Pi when he is on the ship and he asks his brother to come with him up on the deck of the ship and his brother refuses if his brother went with he could have survived. He gets on the life raft he thought he saw a person but he helped Richard Parker on the ship. Which a bad thing because you are on a boat with a tiger but it also helps you because the tiger keeps on high alert because you don't want to die to a tiger so you are always on high alert.
My favorite narrative so far has been Mad Max because I’ve seen clips of the movie before we watched it so it was easier for me to write about it. I also liked all the action in the movie because those are the types of movies I like to watch. I also felt like it was easier to write about Mad Max than any other movie because Mad Max is just like the movies that are coming out today. That’s my opinion.
My favorite narrative that we studied this year would have to be Life of Pi. The reason for this is because, in this narrative, there are many signs and life lessons. Like right off the bat Pi is taught to be more careful around dangerous animals because they are very violent and he could easily lose his life if he doesn't be cautious around animals such as the tiger even though later on in the movie the tiger is warmed up to him and knows that Pi is no threat to him whatsoever and if it wasn't for him he would probably be dead. Then when the storm hits and Pi is the only one to wake up before the ship goes under this is a sign of luck in my case. If he wouldn't have woken up to go check out the storm he probably would have died along with his brother and mother and father. After he loses his family this is a sign to be grateful for everything you have in life because you may never know when it's your last time to see a loved one or person of significant value to you. There are many other signs throughout this narrative but these are just a certain few that I thought were important. The reason this makes us better narratologists also is because it helps us look into the deeper picture. Also, I believe it's important to study a narrative or movie that you can actually find interesting or get into because if you don't find interest in something then you won't be able to get into it as much.
My favorite narrative we've studied this year was Sling Blade because I thought it was realistic and covered many different topics and discussed many real-world issues. I thought Doyle was one of the best and one of the worst characters in a narrative we've studied. He's the worst because he is selfish, stubborn, an alcoholic, a jerk to his friends and girlfriend, and his only goal in life is to help himself. He is one of the worst ever characters as far as the way that he acts but he is also one of the best characters because he represents how many people in the world truly are. He is the most realistic movie bad guys or even villains out of all of the movies we watched. Doyle was an American citizen and wasn't a lawbreaker as far as the movie audience knows yet he was still an absolutely evil character and I like how the movie Sling Blade portrayed that. The types of movies that I like are movies that I view as being realist or at least plausible which is why Gran Torino was another one of my favorite movies. I thought that Beasts of The Southern Wild was okay until the orlockes ruined it because it took any realistic aspect the movie originally had out. I think the same thing about Life of Pi. Life of Pi was a fairly realistic movie until a mythical island was put into it removing a huge aspect of realisticness. Wardlow

As you watch the movie from beginning to end you see what pi went threw from his perspective and coming from him himself it allows you as the reader to wrap your head around to what is all going on in the movie and on to what he id dealing with at that certain point of time.
