How have you become so literate? Include 200+ words. Options (though you can create your own way): 1. Type a list 2. Make a video 3. Compose paragraphs
How to become literate is how a person can speak, write, read. The steps that help me become literate is going to school every day and learning how to read, write, and speak fluently which helps everybody learns how to do the things they love. What grade that helped be literate is going to junior kindergarten and they teach me how to say my abc’s and learn how to write my name and how to spell words and sound out words to be more fluent. My family has helped me a lot to become the way I am now and forever the family member that helped me the most is my mom she would always sit down with me and guide me through my homework so I could finish it on time and get it done right. Church has helped me in a way that is meaningful to me because the church teaches you the importance of the bible and how the church really works. Also, the church helps understand your life more and how things work in the world. Social media has helped in a way by learning how to interact with people and how to communicate with others. Also, texting is helpful because if you are texting and don’t know a word you can either speak it or have someone else help you in your family or someone close to you.

Middle school was something else when I moved into the middle school I fell in love with writing and reading my imagination was huge and still is I would daze off and write novels in my own head it was fun that's why my literacy is on the ok side to me at least, I love to write anything involving made-up worlds and creatures I’d write four books till the time I was a senior, it makes me happy and feel like I can create my own little world with people and events and beings all scattered throughout the world.
Starting off when we're babies we're very curious and we want to learn and figure out what we can and can't do and what happens if anything at all when said thing does or doesn't happen, however when we're babies we know communication exists we just don't comprehend well so beyond fairly limited motor functions we have to listen and in listening we hear people or things that we're near talking and making noises. Eventually, we're developed well enough to retain words and sounds that we hear which then can allow us to "Communicate" and retain information which then leads us to be able to figure out other words and piece together what they mean and how to use them in proper English grammar and formulate sentences and responses. Then as time goes on eventually we are forced to leave the comfort and safety of our homes to go to school where for the next 12 - 14 years they focus on literary advancements where we learn how to take the words that we comprehend and figure out how to take those words and learn how to break them up into the individual letters and relay them verbally or write them on a surface such as paper. This skill is then used throughout the rest of your life where bigger and bigger and stranger and stranger words become used in different situations and under different circumstances that then continues to expand our understanding of a language until the day we die.
How did I become literate? Well, when I was a kid probably 3 or 4 my parents got me all these books about hockey and the war because that's what I was interested in at the time. When I was a kid my parents knew that sitting still for any time at all drove me crazy, I always had to be running around outside. So a couple of years later I'm going to kindergarten and I probably need to know how to read a little. So every night before bed if my parents didn't read with me I would sit in my bed for 20 or so minutes and just look at the pictures and words. I slowly became literate. Going into first grade I still struggled reading so my first-grade teacher gave me some little books that I had to read to my parents every night. By the end of first grade, I could read anything and everything, but that didn't change the fact that sitting for 15 to read a little book was like getting a life sentence in prison I hated reading, but it is a pretty big role in our lives and I'm glad I took the time to read those books.
How I became so literate is mainly from the people around me through the years. From my mother reading books to me, to my family watching/ listening to soccer games as a child. Words were all around me. I think it all started from listening to conversations around me when I was a kid, my mother and father would have conversations right in front of me and I would just listen. I didn't even have to understand exactly what they said, but from the way they acted, I could put together piece by piece of what they meant to say. And that's only the start of it, when I got older we would go to church and I would stare at the bible for as long as my eyes could help it, trying to put the song with the lyrics. And I believe that is what helped the most about it, when my family would all be singing and I was able to follow along with the word and soon enough I started singing along to. It's kind of crazy looking back at how this could have helped me but it did and that's amazing how just some easy and simple situations could help out someone so little learn the big things in life.
The reason I have become so literate because my mom and dad used to read to me when I was younger and help me say the words. In school, we are also taught how to write letters and essays and how to correctly format those things. I have listened to the words in music. In high school, I am taking ASL and I am learning the words in a different way and seeing letters in a different way. As I got older and did more jumps and spins in figure skating my coaches would teach me the words and names to the jumps. These are a few things about how I have become so literate.

By: Meinert My mom read to me every night before I went to bed. I read the bible during church and during Sunday school and youth group. I traced letters when I was younger with my parents and my teachers on whiteboards. As I got older I started to write letters at school and at home. Read music lyrics while the song was playing at home and at school. Read signs on the roads and on the cars while on the road. Read street signs when I first started to drive in Brandon and Sioux Falls, Sleepyeye Minnesota. Read long books like unbroken, 365, in school and at my house. I also read some of the words from the movies that I watch multiple times at my house. I read game instructions on board games like sorry, life, operation, scratch, back alley bridge, etc. I read these instructions at my house or with my family. I can also read the lanes of the bowling alley and know the different patterns for my bowling balls to hit in the bowling alley. I read magazines and news articles online or at my house. I text many people like my friends and my family.
Made:Schroeder I think i'm literate because I was taught the alphabet. It showed me what each letter was and how they sounded. And my siblings helped me with my reading. By helping me spell names when im not using the word correctly. Teachers would help me understand that i needed to sound out the words and understand what the word means before I could us it. Maybe i'm literate I heard words when I was young. It could be because my parents always have subtitles on during movies. People would tell me what an item is and then i would know more and they would tell me how to us it. It may have to do with what are interest where when we were younger that may have a factor of how literate we are. To be honest who knows some scientist is probably going to say a lot of stuff that sounds smart and then get their face in the paper for a couple of weeks then be forgotten. Then some other scientist will do other studies and get a new one and it will keep on changing. I don’t know how i've become literate all i know is that i understood words when they came out of the mouth
What does it mean to be Literate? To be literate you have to have the ability to read and write. But how have I become so literate? First, let's start from the beginning when I was 5, my mom would bring me and my little brother to the library a few times a week. So me and my little brother would pick out our picture books but at the time my little brother couldn't read so sometimes I would read to him or my mom would read to him. When I was about 7 I would read fewer picture books and more small storybooks. Then when I was 9 I would be reading with even more pages and harder to read books. As we got older we would pick out bigger and more complex books when my mom took us to the library. Also even going to school every day and doing homework and reading books or articles helped me become more literate. Also, social media helped me and the news helped me. So know that we have read so much we can see words and know exactly what they mean and don’t need to ask someone what the word means most of the time.

Stephen The way I became literate was because of my Mom and Dad when I was a kid, my parents taught me how to read but before that they would read books to me I’m not sure how many books they read to me but it was a lot of storytime book and they always sing ABC to me. My mom was the one who taught me how to speak and how not to be rude when I’m talking They would show me a lot of sighs that ha letter and tell me what they mean and when I went to kindergarten my teacher taught me how to be a great writer and how to sound out words. They would away have this reading session in class the student would take a turn reading a paragraph or a page of the book and if we struggle they would ask a student to help them or the teacher would help. When I got to 8th grade there was this Spanish teacher who would teach us some new language and how English and other language and taught us how a word can be different and sometimes sound out the word can be different from the accuracy word.
I have become literate in many ways throughout the years and various experiences. Although I don’t remember clearly but the first ways of me learning how to read and speak clearly was when people would read books to me. I may not have known what the words meant as I was read them but that is when I first started seeing those words. It wasn’t until I started going to school when I was able to learn more about letters and forming them into words and soon into sentences as my schooling continued. It wasn’t easy always though, there were many times were when I would struggle to learn something new or figure out how to get something I sometimes need to stay after to get some extra help so I could better learn how to spell and write. Several of my past English teachers have put in extra time after school to assist me and help me become more literate. As time progressed so did my knowledge and me becoming more and more literate. I was soon able to read bigger and longer books, have more conversations and understanding them and even to the point where I could give presentations. I have my schooling to thank for making me become so literate. Biren
How have I become so literate it starts when you go to kindergarten and they teach you how to say and spell small words and then they go a little bit bigger but that takes time and effort. They also teach you how to read and you need to put in the effort and time otherwise your not going to learn anything. Then you go from kindergarten to 1st grade and in that grade, they teach you more words, how to understand harder books, harder words and spell harder words soon you will realize that you can spell more words and you can read/understand harder books. So another thing you do in 1st grade is you probably have a music class and there you are going to learn more words and sing songs and maybe learn an instrument to play for children. As you go through each grade, everything gets harder from the words to the reading and the understanding of books and knowing your level of reading. When you know your level of reading you can push yourself to become better at reading and knowing words so that you can further your knowledge and the reading/understanding of the concept of the book.
Because of the places that we have gone to school and the places that we have got to learn new things that will help us do more like writing. Then we can read then we will be able to write stories and then we make speeches for school. That is so we can grow to be better people and that is what makes the world today. The reason we have to be this way is so we can talk and work together and not just make sound and point at things. If we could not talk then we could not get food from a restaurant because you need to be able to talk and tell them what you want and what you would like to drink. Then you would not be able to get your driver's license because you could not talk and you would not be able to go to the places that they want you to go cause you would not know which way they would not be able to go because they could not talk to tell you. If you could not talk then no one would be able to drive. Then we would not have food that gets brought over to us on a ship or by semi-truck. Then we would not have every much food cause we would not be getting it from other places. We would not have gas for cars cause there would no one to haul it from place to place.
Well, let's start with what means to be literate. Literate is a person that can read, speak correctly to other people. Since I can remember I started going to kindergarten there you get to learn how to say the words correctly. I remember that we sang songs, pays games with my friends and teachers but most of the time we were having fun and learning at the same time. When had learned a lot of staff that could help us to communicate I put in practice with my mom. My mom helped me alot with the pronunciation of the words but the language was spanish because thats my first language I know how to read and write in Spanish because I went to school to learn it how to do it. For all of us that's the way how we learn how to read and right teachers help us a lot. There is another kind of communication and that is sign language you do not need words to express yourself, you don’t need to write anything to communicate with someone how your feeling, what gets you mad or what makes you happy. The most important thing that you can do to become literate is go to school and try hard every day and give everything from yourself.
hamner How have you become so literate? The reason I have become so literate because my mom and dad used to read to me when I was younger and help me say the words. Literate is another way to say read or write. My question for English is how did I become literate. I learn things as I grew up. My mom use to read things like the mail, signs, books, captions on the TV, etc. This also goes along with the alphabet. After a while, she started to sound out the words to make it easier to understand. She would get flashcards with the world that we use every day like is, that, and, what, or, see, the, to, too, as, on, and so on. When I started school they began teaching me the bigger words that I didn’t understand. Because I didn’t know where they got them from. When I learned the alphabet it sounded different. The way they sound is not even close to the way the word is said. After a while, I started to understand and learn that the letters sound different together. Which leads to writing, it’s different. I grew up scribbling on a piece of paper just to get use to the way I held a pencil or find a way that is easier to use it. After I was able to somewhat copy letters my mom started to have me trace, which she started with the alphabet. After that, she took the tracing away and had me practice over and over again spelling my name and small simple words until I got the hang of it. Then it just came naturally. Growing up you see the signs and hear the way people say things. There are millions of ways to spell them and millions of ways to say them.
Because of the places that we have went to school and the places that we have got to learn new things that will help us do more like writing. Then we can read then we will be able to write stories and then we make speeches for school. That is so we can grow to be better people and that is what makes the world today.

My mom read to me every night before I went to bed.

The way I became literate was because of my Mom and Dad when I was a kid, my parents taught me how to read but before that they would read books to me I’m not sure how many books they read to me but it was a lot of storytime book and they always sing ABC to me. My mom was the one who taught me how to speak and how not to be rude when I’m talking
They would show me a lot of sighs that ha letter and tell me what they mean and when I went to kindergarten my teacher taught me how to be a great writer and how to sound out words.

How have you become so literate?

How have you become so literate?
The reason I have become so literate because my mom and dad used to read to me when I was younger and help me say the words. When I was younger my mom taught me the ABC’s, she sang songs and lullabies to me when I was a baby. My mom taught me how to read and write. School also taught me how to read and write and in school, we would read stories. In my old elementary school, my teachers taught my class cursive handwriting, we would also have to learn how to spell and say different words for a spelling test and we would have to learn the meanings of many different words to understand what they meant and how to put them together.
