The Beginning of the Holocaust, By The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum
It was about the beginning of the Holocaust and about how it spread throughout Europe through the german thoughts and over the years even before ww2 it shows how the jews and other groups they found inferior were placed in these camps to be monitored before being sent out to different camps and effectively killing millions of jews, gypsies, and people of Slavic descent as it said in the text for them at least 200,000 for each but the jews as it's the number that's the hardest to keep track of but it was a tragedy in it's self as I agree with what it's saying is it's one of my biggest things I research for a while and it was an absolute slaughter of people who couldn't defend themselves as the government locked them away from doing so.

The poem that I picked for this that interests me is called what makes good people do bad things? It is by Melissa Dittmann. I picked this because I thought that the title was interesting cause how can you make good people do bad things cause in my mind is that if good people are good how would they do bad things unless someone persuades them to do bad things. What this story talks about is how some professors oversaw an infamous experiment called the Stanford Prison experiment and students were assigned roles guard or prisoner and then they were observed. This experiment was eventually shut down after the guards began to brutalize the prisoners So that is what happened in this article and that is how they persuade good people to do bad things. I disagree with this article because I think that the good people out there should stay the good people because then if they become bad then there are more bad things that could happen in this world that we don’t need in the world right now cause of everything going on we need more caring and people that will listen in the world then people going out and messing around and not listing we just need people to follow the rules so everything can go back to normal. I like this story because some things I want to know change good people to be bad cause nowadays that is all it is going to come down to is bad people and we need to change that.

The story I read is called “ How Jackie Robinson Changed Baseball”. This story was written by Jessica McBirney. Jackie Robinson was a professional baseball player and he was the first African American to play in the Major Leagues. When Jackie Robinson got into High School his siblings encouraged him to try out in some sports. He went into many different sports and broke many school records. It talks about how early in his life he confronted racism head on. He got into trouble a lot around that time. He also enlisted in the army. He joined the professional Negro Leagues to play baseball and signed with the Kansas City Monarchs. After one season he switched to the Brooklyn Dodgers. He broke the color barrier and he was the first to do that. He won Rookie of the year in 1947. Robinson remained a baseball legend after retirement. He also made important racial breakthroughs in the sports world. He was the first baseball player to break the color barrier in 60 years. He also helped the upcoming Civil Rights movement by giving Americans a heroic African American sports figure to rally around. He changed a lot of things while doing his career in this life. He also received baseball’s highest honor when he was elected into the Hall of Fame. He helped a lot of people as well while doing his career. I really like this story because it shows how some things can change things in such a good impacted and how one person can make a difference in the world just by doing certain things in the world or in their life. This story is really inspiring and it has a lot of good and important meaning to it. This is a story that a lot of people should read.

THE VALUE OF BEING CONFUSED
by Barrett Smith2018
Being confused...it is part of life. I used to think that I was the only one confused about things. After I read this article, I realized that being confused is normal. It is okay to be confused as it is part of the learning process. The article talked about how being confused is actually a good thing. The article states “Being confused can make us feel stupid, useless, and cause us to worry”.
By being confused about something, it gives us time and space to look at it in different ways to solve the confusion. Confusion can cause us to try new things or find out who we are. It is okay to explore and look for things/ people that can help us.
In school, sometimes, I would feel confused in some classes. I was too embarrassed to ask the question in front of everyone. Instead, I just kept it to myself until I felt secure enough to ask someone that I trusted. It also helped me to think about it longer so that I could try to find out the answer within myself.
I would agree with the author because I think that kids get confused about lots of things. What group to hang out in, what to do for a career, money, and about life in general. All of this confusion can help us to create the person we want to be. We can surround ourselves with whomever we want...can be what we want, and if it doesn’t work out we can take the time to think about it and try again.
So I am happy that I am confused sometimes...I don’t need to try to believe that I have all of the answers all of the time.
FROM “THE WILD HORSES OF ASSATEAGUE ISLAND”
by National Park Service, US Department of the Interior
This article is about how there are still some wild horses in assateague island and how their life is there and the big question: how did they get there?
These horses that live on this island were brought there like 300 years ago. The horses that were brought to the islands were chosen because they need to be tough enough to survive the scorching heat, abundant insects, stormy weather, bad food.
Where did they come from? During the 21th century horses, cows sheeps and pigs caused expensive crop damage to local farms. Farmers were required to pay taxes on all mainland livestock and fence them in. In the 21tst century these sourceful coastal residential areas looked for ways to not pay tax. They turned to nearby assateague island with its abundance of food and shelter and natural corral made to solve their problem. It is possible that modern Assateague horses are descendants of those hardy animals turned loose on the island to graze tax-free.
Do they get veterinary care?
While action may be taken to end the suffering of a gravely ill, a really badly injured or dying horse no measures are taken to prolong the lives of Maryland’s wild horses. Basically no action is taken for their own good to keep them depending on themselves.
I feel that the wild animals have been reduced because of humans and a lot more factors like climate change. We as the dominant race think that we are superior and we need to take our land without caring about the environment and all living organisms that live there. My thoughts about wildlife are that just in a few years in the future won’t be animals like horses. Won’t be wild anymore and for other types of organisms will be extinct. I am glad that I read this and know that there are some wild horses because I really thought that there were no but there some actually which makes me happy.
To the front lines: America in world war I by USHistory.org
They talk about how isolation was a long-held American tradition. Since the days of George Washington, Americans attempted to remain secluded, protected by the mighty oceans on either side. They talk about when the European conflicts erupted, as they frequently did, many in the United States claimed exceptionalism: America was different. They said why get involved in Europe’s self-destruction? When the Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary was killed in cold blood and his empire declared war on Serbia, alliances forced most of the European countries to pick a side, igniting the most destructive war in human history until that point. But the initial reaction in the united states was the expectation to remain neutral. As a nation of immigrants, the united states would have difficulty picking a side. They go on to say that despite the obvious ties to Britain based on history and language, there were many United States citizens who claimed Germany and Austria-Hungary as their motherlands. They go on to say that the support of either the allies or the central powers might prove too divisive. Then they bring up that in the early days of the war, as Britain and France struggled against Germany, American leaders decided it was in the national interest to continue the trade with all sides as before. A neutral nation cannot impose an embargo on one side, continue trade with the other, and still retain its neutral status. Then they say in addition, to American merchants and manufacturers feared that a boycott would cripple the economy. I agree with a lot of the things that they are saying and that people in America would think that a boycott could really damage the economy and what I liked about this informational text is that they talk about things that a very long time ago before the European conflicts like bringing up George Washinton and the reason why I like this text is because they don’t only bring up one part of history but multiple parts of history as well.
The title of the story I am going to talk about is Adolf Hitler by Jessica McBirney First of all it talks about how Adolf Hitler is probably the most infamous person in history. He was the leader of Germany before and during World War II he promoted racist ideas and demanded the murder of millions of ethnic minorities especially Jews. He rose to power during a time of crisis in Germany and his cruel violent legacy is often seen as a warning to the rest of the world of what can happen when someone is too obsessed with national pride and racial superiority. It also talks about how Hitler admired powerful nationalistic governments like Japan and Italy, and he made military alliances with both countries in the late 1930s. His vision was to restore Germany to greater economic and military power, to make Germany the most powerful nation in the world. He thought white, blond Germans were genetically superior to anyone else so the best way for Aryans to gain their rightful power was to kill anyone who looked different or who thought differently. He especially hated Jews. In conclution I think that he was a verry bad person from reading all of this like how he targeted differnt people and how he killed them was verry cruel.
For my 300 words I chose the story called Life isn't fair - deal with it. This story is about a 9th grader who wrote this story to relate to real life situations. This story is by mike myatt and was written and published in 2011. The reason I choose this story to write about is because the title sounds very interesting and then it is written by or about a 9th grader. And I guess it is someone I can relate too. He says that President Obama or the old one always thought that life should be fair and everybody thinks they should be treated the same. I think that Obama was definitely one of the good presidents that the United States had but maybe that is just me. This story seems kinda like a debate on how life is and is not fair. He asked questions in the start of this story. This story is kind of like a debate story. He thinks that life is not fair because we don't get a choice on whether we come into this life or not. We also don't get to make decisions on if we do this or that because for the first eighteen years of your life those choices and options rely on your mom or dad or whoever your parent is. He also talks about how you just have to grow up and understand that life will never be fair. No matter what someone will always be getting treated better and someone will always get what they want. This for sure reminds me of when I was little and when me and my family would get in fights at the dinner table and my parents would always say life is never going to be fair or when they take your toy away as a kid you would normally say but why do they get it and you don’t realize that you will never be equal with someone until you get older.
LIFE ISN'T FAIR — DEAL WITH IT
by Mike Myatt
This text caught my eye and I feel like it makes many great points and can help give you a better outlook on life. As many of us know, life is not fair. It’s just that simple, but many of us wish it was. Most of us will say life has treated them unfairly or not fairly enough. But before you can say that think to yourself what fair is, and should life even be fair? Growing up we have little choices on our own, what we can do is often determined by our parents or guardians. How you are brought into this world and the first few years are not up to you. However the older we get the more we make our own decisions. We have the ability to influence our own outcomes. As we grow up we have many influencers in our life such as parents and teachers but they do not control our outcomes and should not put blame on them if you find something unfair. All of history people have overcome just about every obstacle or difficulty you can think of from poverty and drug addictions to mental illnesses. Many people who have faced some of these challenges say life is unfair, but some people overcome those challenges purely based on their own actions. Life is full of challenges and we are all dealt with them, we all deal with those challenges differently and based on our own actions determine our fate. With hard work and dedication, you can get anything you want because you have earned it and took the initiative to do what was needed to get where you are. Life is hard and I’m not saying that it isn’t. What I am saying is it is how you deal with those tough times that you will inevitably face. You can say how it’s not fair and blame someone else, or you can figure out how to overcome your challenges. It may be extremely difficult to overcome and you may not get over your challenge the first time or second time, but you can learn from your mistakes and persevere. I can guaranty you several people have faced the same if not a similar difficulty as you. And there have been some people who wear not able to overcome it because they thought it was unfair they had to go through that. But there have also been people how have overcome those challenges because of the actions that they chose to make. It is up to you and it’s your choice how you handle your life. Life is not fair, fair is just a matter of your perspective.

Did you hear that a rose grew though the cracks of summent. It shows just how powerful life can be. No mater what gets in its way it decided to still push though the concrete and not stop. It proving natures laws wrong. It could do what it wants after living though concrete. They have nice red pedals. And there really isn’t much else to say about it. Other then it went though cement and over came all odds. Life finds a way. That is a quote from jurassic park that was a good movie. But at least there is something to think about.

It's hard to find something interesting for me. I've always had a hard time finding something interesting to me. I came across a poem called Jabberwocky. The poem was written by Lewis Carroll in 1871. The writer is known for writing about his novel Alice's adventures in wonderland. The poem is about a young boy that is called to face an evil creature called the Jabberwock. In the poem, it talks about how the boy stood up and how he was told to be careful but he has to kill the Jabberwocky and how he takes his confidence and kills it by cutting off its head and how everybody cheers for him. I liked this poem because I've always liked Alice in Wonderland and all the weird twists and plots to the story. I also thought it was interesting how in the movie and story we've all seen the main character is a girl but in this story, it was a boy. So overall I liked this story and I thought it was a good poem even though it was kind of hard to understand.
THE MAN IN THE ARENA
I was assigned a blog task about something that interests me. There is no one on this earth who really interests me more than Theodore Roosevelt. This man was a true legend in his time and even in ours.
No matter what you believe politically we can all agree that Teddy Roosevelt was the most badass president ever and here are the top three reasons why,
There was one time in a bar when a cowboy came in and starts shooting his guns in the air to call Teddy Roosevelt’s attention and tried intimidating him by little remarks and hand gestures, so Teddy got up from his chair and literally gave the Cowboy a one, two punch that knocked him out unconscious!!
Teddy Roosevelt went out hunting bears with a buddy of his when they were out there teddy was at gunpoint of a bear. He pointed his gun at it, but he felt bad and couldn't shoot, a toymaker heard about this and started calling his Bears, teddy bears, and that’s what they are still called to this day.
I had to save last for best because this man is truly unstoppable. Teddy Roosevelt was about to start a speech when an assassin shot him right in the chest, the bullet went through his overcoat and steel eyeglasses case and even through his 50-page speech and then got lodge in his chest when he fell to the ground he noticed that he was bleeding pretty bad, so he coughed three times to see how much blood come out when there was barely any that came out, he decided he was fine to continue and his speech lasted 84 minutes. After the speech, he went to the hospital and turned out that he was fine.

The story that I'm going to write about is FOR TEENS, A GOOD MOOD DEPENDS ON GOOD SLEEP. This article is about teen's mood depends on getting enough sleep to be able to have a good mood the next day. A new study confirms that adolescents need eight to 10 hours of sleep at night to feel their best the next day. Within that eight to 10 hour range, older kids seemed to need much sleep as 14 years old in order to function on a daily basis. Sleeping more on weekends to make up for missing sleep during the week isn't good, Fuligni warns that getting different amounts of sleep each night can be bad for mental health. The amount of sleep you get on weekdays and weekends should be the same, We don't starve ourselves of food on weekdays and eat on weekends.
