how are Sofia and Celie alike?
they both get treated badly and don't know what to do. Sofia fights back making it worse and Celie didn't do anything and lets herself be used for a long long time. but in the end, they both stood back and relaxed they needed to change some things around. they were both just scared of men and being hurt. that's a normal fear so I don't blame them for doing what they did. Celie started to see that she did matter and she was loved. and so did Sofia she saw she was loved by her children and the good people around her. they both changed the men in their "love" life. sofic got Harpo to stop hitting her and hurting her. and Celie left and Albert changed a little. I still hate him to the core what I'm glad he helped Celie be with her family again
What do I think caused everything that happened in the movie? The reason I think this is because Mr. Johnson is beating Celie because he couldn’t get Nettie. He beats her because he could not get Nettie to be his wife because of their father. It was wrong for Johnson to do that because he took apart two people that they are the only ones that actually loved each other. But I think that was a good thing and a bad thing. Let me explain what I mean by that. It was a good thing that Johnson took them apart because if he didn’t do that Nettie would have never found Celie's kids. But it is a bad thing because he took two family members apart and didn’t let them speak to each other. It was also bad because Johnson kept all the letters from Nettie to Celie. That is bad because Celie thinks the only person that cared for her is dead. When Johnson brought home Shug because she was sick opened up a new friendship between Celie and Shug. The reason they became friends is that Celie made her food, brushed her hair, and sang to Shug. It is awesome that it happened because now Shug sees that Johnson beats Celie. Shug will finally take Celie with her and then Celie broke it off with Johnson so she can find her family. At the end of the movie, Johnson reunited Celie and her family. He did this because of what he has done to Celie all of these years. Johnson is thinking that he does this is to try and make up for what he has done to Celie. Celie and Nettie are finally back together. Celie is trying to think about what is happening and how did they find out where she lived. Celie is speechless because of what is happening. Pfeiffer
Which scene was the best and why. Well, my favorite scene of the movie will have to be when Celia finally talked back to her husband. She had never felt freedom around him and no hope. He kept her shut and out of the spotlight. She felt as if no one had loved her and was a slave in her own house. She kept her mouth shut because she was scared that her husband will beat her and never said anything. I think what triggered her to have all these feelings and emotions run through her body was the letters. The letters gave her hope and she finally felt like someone has loved her. She talked back to her husband was because she wanted this to end and had to risk everything to do so. In the end, though it came to be what she had imagined. The excitement and the freedom she has gotten now had given her everything she wanted in the world. Without Cilia knowing that someone had loved her she would've been the same and an object to him.
The color purple was an interesting movie not one I think I’d rewatch. It had a purple all throughout the movie. When nettie and celie were running in there front garden in the lilies or whatever they are. Could be symbolizing that the color purple are their happiness, their way of connecting to one another. A color that they both cherish or gives them hope. Towards the end when Celie and Shug we’re talking about how everything wants love next to the purple flowers. It’s an upsetting but great story and what I mean by that is it was upsetting to see Celie and Nettie separate and Celie had two kids who were technically her sibling. Yuck but I guess it was socially acceptable to them? Not to mention their dad wanting to keep Nettie so he can do the same thing he did to Celie. It was a good story too since the people got there revenge and of course all of us wanted Celie to be with Nettie again it’s not right to keep them apart. After all they are family. Family can have plenty of meanings though. Shug I think was a great character at first she was ehh because she jumped the gun and judged a book by it’s cover when all Celie wanted was to be close to her. I guess you could say she got what she wanted after all. Shug also realized what Celie was going through and being treated and how much of a boy mister was aka Albert. Shug also helped Celie get out of that so-called “home” of hers. It wasn’t really Celie's home, more of her hell. Shug helped her build confidence and find Netties letters which gave her so much courage knowing that Nettie was out there and she could see her once again. zody
From what I have seen and interpret from the film, I do think it's about seeking freedom and redemption from someone or something holding you back from seeking true happiness. I think the film is trying to say is that we shouldn't try to keep someone who was forced to do or be apart of something unwillingly is bound to let you and others fall into a toxic and nasty relationship that won't benefit anyone or anything. We see how awful Albert was not only to Celie but to many others around him, showing major passive-aggressive comments towards people like Sofia. We see how Celie was tempted to end Albert's life by the shaving scene but was stopped by someone or something. We do see Celie be free from Albert with the aid of Sofia and Shug. And she helps them grow and redeem themselves of the sins they have committed.
300 words about this narrative during this movie i never did under stand what its about like theres no meaning to the story i kinda just jumps around in the beginning of this movie the girls get rapped and beating they are treated like slaves to mr it doesn't really make any since everyone in the movies is african american you would think they would treat each other better then how they were brought up my favorite person in the clip is harpo's wife i like how she doesn't give a crap who you are shell take you out she has a nasty right hook she really shapes harpo into a better person and makes him so he will be nothing like his father im not really sure how sug came to play when she first entered the scene it was almost like she was supper sick she really brought the inside look of sceg out she got her to smile and to say whatever was on her mind she made them rich with the clothing store with out sug this stuff wouldn't have happened they would probably still be getting abused and mr would ended up getting murdered i like how they were ables to make people age it all looked supper really ins kinda impresses considering it was made in 1985 movies werent always that good back then one thing they could of changed is making it more exciting they could of moved the seance away form the house like maybe they would go to town or something im not a big fan of this movie i thought it was pretty boring and point less but what do you do i guess of to right about the next hopefully i learn a little more and be more interested meier
What are some possible solutions for the problem of Celie forgiving Mr. Johnson? Some solutions would be he could take her out to dining, maybe cook for her. What I still don't understand about Nettie getting forced to leave Mr. Johnson’s? I don’t get it because she was protecting herself from him raping her and she hit him in the no no square with books and he kicks her out of his house and say Celie will never hear from Nettie again. Even though Nettie tries writing to Celie like she said she would, but Mr. Johnson is the only one allowed to go to the mailbox and get the mail. He kept finding letters from Nettie so he hid them. What do you think causes Mr. Johnson to be nicer? I think Celie has a huge impact on why Mr. Johnson thought about what he was doing to Celie. After Celie left with Shug his whole life changed and now he didn’t have anyone to cook for him and that’s when he felt bad for what he has done to Celie and Nettie. I think it was nice of him to pay for Nettie’s and her family's Immigration thing because of what he did to her. What are the strengths and weaknesses of Sofia? The strengths of Sofia is she doesn’t let any man put hands on her without her punching them back, Sofia stands her ground, I’d say she helped Celie from making the same mistake she made when she hit the Mayor, but Celie was gonna do it to her husband Mr. Johnson. The weakness for Sofia is she thinks every time someone hits her it's okay to hit her back, like when she hit the Mayor, I knew once she hit him she messed up. Another one she thinks everything is about her, but she learned from her mistakes and now cares about others.
8. Which one is the best movie and why? I think that The Color Purple was the best movie because it warmed my heart and made me realize more things. This movie made me think more.
6. What do you think causes Johnson beating up the women? I think that he was not thinking straight and that he should have grown up better by his dad. I feel that his dad did not treat him with respect and just beat him for whatever he did.
4. In what way is Celie related to Shug? I think that Celie is almost a twin to Shug because they have a lot in common. They both love god. They both push and get through life without giving up. They both believe in each other.
1. How are Celie and Sofia alike? I think they are a like by how they grow up together. They both help each other out. They both don’t deal with any crap from anyone. They both believe in each other. They both stick to each other's sides no matter what happens to them.
2. What is the main idea of The Color Purple? I think the main idea of The Color Purple is that no matter what happens you always stay beside your friends' sides. I think no matter what you gotta keep your head up and keep pushing through your problems.
3. What are the strengths and weaknesses of Shawshank? Some strengths I thought that was in Shawshank was when ANdy got out. I think that when Sndy finally gets the nuts to beat off the other means guys that was a strength because that was up lifting and made him stronger. Some weakness of this movie would be one of the guys that were in there had to get beat for “talking back” to the guard.
The Shawshank Redemption and The Color Purple can be similar in such a way and I’m here to explain it to you. The one that is similar to both is that it has ups and downs on hope and no one loses hope at the very end of the movie and they live happily ever after and nothing bad happens. The villains in both movies always get into the heroes' way by not letting them go, making their life miserable, and making them do things that they don’t want to do. When both films end a few of the characters go to beautiful, peaceful, and quiet places where they don't have to think about anything else. The villains however suffer horrible fates whenever things are going downhill after the heroes’ escape their persecution. When that happens they end up doing harm to themselves and dead. Speaking of those two sentences the hero steals the villains things before escaping him and his persecution and leading to the villains demise. The difference between the films is that it takes place in different times, have different cultures, and different eras where society and the world was very cruel, unfair, and unpleasant. More differences include the cast, the themes, and importances of the films. The unpopular thing that they’re similar is that they didn’t get any Oscar winning awards, just nominations and that’s it, nothing else. What did the Oscars really come to after that, what did they come to? Anyways those are all the similarities and differences that I can know about those films.
how are Shawshank and the color purple like the way that they are alike in how they redeem themself as in one type is when addy escaped prison and that how he redeemed himself in the other movie shugs and Mr.jones they know what they did was wrong so they found a way to make it up to the people that they are done wrong shugs cam back to church and started singing hoping her father would forgive her and witch he did. same as Mr. jones he went to the immigration building and manage to bring back her sister from Africa.
Rai I like the movie. It was good they talk about slaves or families. I like some of the scenes when Celia fights back at her master and tries to kill him and. Now Celia is free to go where she wants to go and she looks for her sister. I like that when Cilia was singing at the bar and Cilia hear god song and she signs and go to churn and hug her fatter. I like the ending of the movie when Celia meets her family and sister.
What do I think causes abuse, well, sit down little jimmy, and listen, abuse comes from family and is used to make more abusive families and if you have a very toxic family, there will be a severe case of PTSD coming from the offspring resulting in them taking medication and multiple sessions of therapy, this is a bad thing and it results in abusive relationships if it’s not unchecked. We need to keep this in check by asking what things we did to our family that resulted in us creating a form of toxicity in us to try and dispel so we don’t kill one another on how many younglings Anakin killed and just google search how many he killed. *Looks it up* Dang that’s alot of younglings, anyways just keep yourself in check, that’ll help you big time.
How does The Color Purple tie in with what we learned before? I believe it ties in with hope, which we’ve learned before. Celie has to hope that one day she’ll have more than just surviving in an abusive household. She hopes to soon reunite with her sister, to have more freedom in life, and to be able to live her own way. This relates with Andy, he was hoping to get out of prison and fulfill his dreams. Like Celie, he wanted more freedom, he wanted to go out and live rather than just survive. They were both hoping to escape their both literal and metaphorical prisons. What is the main idea of The Color Purple. I believe the main idea is love, there’s a lot of love shown throughout the movie, even with all the hate and abuse. We saw love at the very beginning of the film, with Celie and Nettie dancing in the field with each other. We see love between Celie and Shug later in the film, when Shug is supporting Celie and even makes a song for her. Love is a very frequent theme throughout the movie, which is why I believe the main idea is love.
what is the main idea of the color purple? I think The main idea of the color purple is that how Celie never gave up on herself and still pushed herself to be the better her. Even when Mr johnson beat her, I think she still pushed on and faced her battles. what do you think causes everything to happen? I think everything happened because of how Mr johnson beats her when they first met. Because of him, she met Shug Avery who taught her that she is perfect and she is beautiful. And because of Shug, she found the letters that her sisters wrote to her. Because of Shug, Celie was able to find out that nettie was with her kids, and she Is taking great care of them. How are Sofia and Shug alike? They are alike because they are there for Celie and want the better for her. They want Celie to continue with being like crap and want her to leave to go and live her life better.
How are Celie and Shug alike? They are alike because their father does not like them. Their fathers don't love them. Which scene is the best one and why? The best scene is when Celie and Nettie were reunited. Nettie also came back with Celie’s children. I think that it is really cool to see Celie with her children and her sister Nettie. Another reason why I think that it is the best scene is because the only reason why Nettie and Celie’s kids were able to come to America was because of Mister. All of the money that he was hiding he used to bring them here to America. It is amazing to see that happen. What do you think caused Mr. Johnson is beating Celie? I think that he is beating Celie because he was able to get Nettie. He also beat her because he couldn’t get Shug either. One thing that I don’t understand is why the Mr didn’t give Celie the letters, because they are just writing to each other and trying to keep in touch with each other. One thing that I like about he movie is the way that Celie changed Mr. She made him nicer and nicer as the years went. Sure he will still beat her but not as much. She keeped her hope as well, which took a lot of strength.
How are celie and shug alike? Celie and shug are alike because both of their fathers made them leave. In shugs case her father saw her as a sinner so he kicked her out and she made a living out of being a singer. Celie was raped by her father and he took her kids when they came out. She had to move away because Johnson wanted to marry her. What are the strengths and weaknesses of celie. Celie's strengths are that she was able to forgive and love unconditionally, she had a lot of endurance to be able to deal with Mr. Johnson for as long as she did. Another strength was that she was always in constant search for the truth she was able to find her true worth with the help of shug. Her weaknesses are that she got her kids taken away from her; she also got beat all the time by the people around her. She also was getting raped as a young girl and it didn't stop.
Celie is an uneducated woman, having been forced to drop out of school around the age of fourteen when she became pregnant by her Pa. Her lack of education is apparent from her poor spelling and grammar. Nettie, however, is educated. Her spelling and grammar are correct, and her letters discuss more complex topics, such as women’s rights, civil rights, religion, politics, and more. However, it isn’t only Nettie who has an interesting story to tell. Despite Celie’s poor educational background, Celie tells a powerful story. In this sense, Walker’s chosen narrator shows that all people, including poor, uneducated, victimized black women, have an important story to tell. Put simply, the point of view or ’narrative focalization’ is the perspective from which the story is told and the relationship of the narrator to the story. When reading any novel it is important to discover which character’s point of view controls the narrative. In other words, who ‘sees’ and who ‘speaks’ In The Color Purple, Celie is the principal narrator whose letters give her perspective on her life in the rural South of America and Nettie is a secondary narrator who writes about her experiences in Africa. -cat
The movie the color purple is a really good movie, i dont normally have movies that i like alot but this movie was different it made me feel how much pain she was in when she was getting beaten on the daily. And when she lost her sister it was really sad to me and it shows that she will go to any means necessary to get a letter from her sister.

The Shawshank Redemption and The Color Purple can be similar in such a way and I’m here to explain it to you.

The movie the color purple is a really good movie, i dont normally have movies that i like alot but this movie was different it made me feel how much pain she was in when she was getting beaten on the daily. And when she lost her sister it was really sad to me and it shows that she will go to any means necessary to get a letter from her sister.
