This poem is about Lionel Messi, one of my go-to players to ever watch. This poem is about the way he plays and the way he slays his defenders and scoring an infinite amount of goals. The best line in this poem is "When he plays, the sun loses its shine A footballing world ruled by an Argentine. His passing and finishing is sublime. Surely the greatest of all time", and it's true because he was raised in Argentina and starting playing soccer since he was really young and growing up I would watch him and that's how I got interested in playing soccer. I started at age 4 and haven't stopped playing since. He's got many different quotes he says to himself and his team before any game but one stuck out to me that I go by and it's “You can overcome anything, if and only if you love something enough.” and for me that is soccer just like him.
I know this isn't a poem but I don't really like poems so I'm going to talk about my favorite quote. it's from an anime I watch. Yona of the dawn, its a story about a princess forced to leave her home but she wants to take back her kingdom she wants to be strong and help people. she is looking for the 4 dragons to help her. the white dragon has a powerful arm of a real dragon. the blue dragon has the eyes. the green dragon has powerful legs. and then the yellow dragon is the last one they find. his name is Zeno. he's a loving a caring soal. his power is his whole body, he is immortal, he goes thowe so much but is still a kind and loving person. that's why I love this quote that he said. it states. "people are mirrors if you smile, a smiled will be reflected". to me it's talking about how if you are kind that others will feed off that energy. I know this because I have seen it, if my friend is in a bad mood I become more silly or weird and it helps. just seeing smiles helps more than people think. it's hard to smile sometimes but if me smiling can help people then I will smile and be silly. because we need happiness and good people. without good people, evil would take over the whole world. as long as there is hope then there is a chance for things to get better.
The poem that I have selected and have already been interested in is the poetry of Kraken. Kraken is a legendary giant sea monster with an octopus-like appearance. According to historical sites that I have visited about Kraken is that Norse sagas have reported a long time ago that Kraken dwelled through the coasts of norway and Greenland and terrorized unsuspecting sailors and ships. The poem that I just read is 100% percent accurate and I was very pleased on how hooked I got on to it and how catchy it is. The poem first goes off as calm and then turns into suspense at the end when he rises from the surface and does his attack on ships and sailors and everything he might see as a threat to him. Not only is this about some sort of giant sea monster it’s about the themes and philosophy of “The nature of the unknown.” It also tells us about creatures and humans' shadowy sides and what they do in the dark and why they hide all the time from the world and everything else that’s around them.
The poem I have read for this assignment. Fallen Heros by Roger Loiseau. Is about honoring the soldiers who had given their lives to go to war and fight for us. For our safety, our protection, our free wills, and free spirits. We should go and thanks these brave soldiers to protect our world and its inhabits. I felt a bit of a connection due to my family's extended history with being involved in the military. My late grandfather fought in both the second World War and fought in Korean War(1950-1953). Another relative was a submarine pilot that carried nuclear warheads, my uncle was an airforce pilot after the Vietnam War. And my future brother-in-law is currently a part of the National Guard. So yeah, my family tree has quite a bit of involvement with war and I should give my respect and honor to those who fought these conflicts.
Zaid K. Abdelnour “LIfe is like a camera. Focus on what’s important. Capture the good times. And if things don’t work out, just take another shot.” I appreciate it because it causes you to realize that life can be compared by such a camera. Plenty other things I’m sure you can compare it too and like not all cameras are the same at taking pictures or recording they can look different just like people’s outlook on life. In a way. I like to think of it as it depends on how you see things I know not everyone will or would enjoy this writing particularly they can try it seeing it from my lens. Ha. Another thing of why I picked this one because it was short is one reason so I don’t have to read so much. Plus I enjoy photography so it’s funny to have something dealing with a camera. I don’t think there's really a lot to discuss about it just because it’s short not to forget that it is straightforward to what it is talking about. When talking about comparing life and something as simple as a camera. Guess you would have to be observant and an open minded person to be able to create something like that. I personally think that for some people that this writing would be beneficial to some to read it or put it somewhere as a reminder because I know there are some people that focus on what’s not important for the time being and they then miss out on the good camera shots. I guess they have the quote to remind them to take another shot at least so you at least have something to motivate you into trying again. As long as you're happy you got the amount of shots that you did. If that makes sense. zody
The article I read was about racing in France. There were these two guys that loved to race and they go against each other sometimes. They are super happy because they finished second and third place. This one guy named Belgian became the winner and he was not on the French team he was on the German team. I can react to this story because I am a race car driver. I can relate to being happy at some points and angry at other times. I remember one time I was really close to being the winner and I missed it by one foot. I can relate to this by having something to eat after the races, when you are done with a race you don’t want to eat because your adrenaline is so high you just want to keep going. You get some sponsors if you go out and asl for them. I know that these guys are getting “sponsors” for his new company. I get sponsors to help pay for the car and help with racing gear. Sponsors help a lot because without them you probably would not be able to go out and race. When you get sponsors you get more support and more friends. I think you get a lot of support by your fans and your family. If your name gets out there more and more then you get more fans and more friends that can support you. You also get a lot of support from social media and what you post.
You may forget let me tell you this someone in some in future time will remember us i have though about this now for a day and what it means it could mean lots of things im guessing that when they say in the future they will remember you it could be something you did
How i react to this poem i feel like this could be for someone that just got dumped i feel like you look back and hear old names and you think of someone or something i know when i look back i can remember things like how my great grand parents used to act im my great grandpa was really rich he acted as if he was above the rest of the family he has passed away now but that is something i remember from him my grandpa richard had a big heart if he had a dollar and you needed it more he would give it to you that has impacted my future and it make you remember them meier
I read a poem on the greek goddess of beauty and fertility, also known as aphrodite. This poem talks about her story of birth and the event after. Her birth was caused by cronos castrating uranus(cronos’s dad). Then aphrodite was born from uranus’s testicle after it was sthrown into a sea. She protected sailors in the sea. It is said that the words “love at first sight”. Zeus saw how her powers worked and decided to try to keep her away from other gods. They destroyed troy and created the dynasty of roman emperors. This poem is telling me that destruction and distraught can cause something beautiful and amazing. For example cronos castrating his father causing the birth of aphrodite. That is destruction because it destroyed the bond of trust between the both of them. Aphrodite is protected by her godfather zeus because he did not want her to be messed with other gods. That creates some relatable sense for fathers who want to protect their daughters. Zeus is kind of like a step father to aphrodite. A god father is someone who look after a child if their parents pass and zeus was that person. He was her protector and guardian, he created an atmosphere for her to live without the stress of other men trying to pursue her. What i am understanding from this is that if they are not blood they can still be there and good for you. Whether it is expected or unexpected. Hera athena and aphrodite wanted to find a handsome noble man who could settle a dispute and they bribed paris to do so. Hera promised him that he would be the ruler of the world. Athena promised that he would win every battle. Aphrodite promised to give him the most beautiful woman's love. This shows that a bond can be an unbeatable force. With hera being the wife of zeus, athena being the daughter of zeus, and aphrodite being the adopted daughter. It may have been wrong for them to do this but they won battles and kept growing and building a better empire. We all have something that separates us from each that is great and useful and depending on who we are around can become a great force
The poem I read and enjoyed is called "we wear the mask", and here's the summary: The poem is telling us about how we as a society hide our true cace under a mask, think of the payday/persona 5 story(no spoilers for persona 5 but will be going in a bit of depth for the 1st palace), we may hide our true intentions for an obvious reason, either to tell us that we may not show it, but we have some form of emotional baggage to tell us or that we have a something hidden from the public that we don’t want anyone to know of, for example, the payday gang go into high risk areas with the knowledge that they might get caught by the cops BUT they hide their identities with masks, unless you’re john wick who literally works for pubsec as a contractor and “hides” his face with sunglasses (The john wick storyline is canon with payday 2, hardcore henry, and hotline miami) or you’re one of the members of the phantom thieves who hide their identity in a place called a palace with masks that are glued onto their face (kinda) and find the deeper intentions behind the corrupt adults of society by figuring out 3 things, 1: what is the target’s keywords (Kamoshida, Shujin Academy(not a real school), Pervert, Castle), 2: what crimes the person in particular has done (sexually assults female students and abuses the vollyball team), and 3: what made the person’s palace grow and how to “destroy the palace” (they don’t come back until newgame+) and reveal something bigger about the guys they’re changing, and in essence for this game, the phantom thieves take the mask that the bad guys are “wearing”, take it off of the guy, and leave them feeling guilty for their crimes that they admitted. And technically speaking, during my summary of the poem, I basically gave my reaction and there's on what the poet meant when writing this, to try and expose the hidden intentions of people that look innocent but x amount of people have seen the under side of that mask
1. The poem I read was the “Tell-Tale Heart” by Edgar Allan Poe. It is a narrative poem that’s self-narrated by the protagonist, and it follows him and his interactions with an old man living with him. The main character is quite fond of the old man at first but throughout the story, the old man’s eye is mentioned. His eye actually starts to slowly drive the protagonist until he eventually considers taking away the old man’s life. He’s almost successful in getting away with murder but due to his guilt manifesting as the beating of the old man’s heart, he exposes himself as the killer. 2.This poem was one of my favorites to read when I was little. I’ve come across it twice in a school setting, once in the fifth grade and another time in the 8th grade and it still was an enjoyable read for me. I quite enjoy its themes of obsession, justice, murder, and guilt and I especially loved the conclusion. The poem is reminiscent of a horror fiction short story made by the same author by the name of “The Black Cat”. The story and the poem both shared a similar conclusion in which homicide is committed and hidden until a revelation arrives but ‘The Black Cat’ comes off as a little bit more supernatural and gruesome. Tell-Tale Heart is something I can relate to because of how similarly I and the protagonist deal with stress. I sometimes tend to hyper-fixate on “crimes” that I have committed and will sometimes repeatedly replay events in my head, wondering what I could’ve done better. It also has a moral that is commonly used which is that secrets don’t stay a secret forever. Everything reveals itself eventually and we can see this in “Tell-Tale Heart” with the main character ultimately revealing himself as the killer moments before he was given freedom. It’s through this conclusion that one might be able to see a little bit of themselves in him or at least be a little bit more able to understand the complex emotion we know as guilt.
I read the dead poets society. And in the poem, talks about a kid who goes to an ivy league school. but he doesn't really want to be there. but after he was able to meet new friends and went to some of his classes he was able to get used to the school and the people. But he had one teacher who stood out to him that changed his view on school. I am able to connect to this book because of how you start at a new school and you don't know how to feel about the environment. and the people. I just have to find new people I can trust and get to know better. I also have to find a group that I really enjoy. there have been times that teachers make a big impact on people's lives and change the whole way they think. and can open new passageways for students so they are able to find their better path.
So I chose the poem Holes like the movie and to me, the movie is amazing because it shows how hard things can be in life when people tell you what to do, also the poem shows me that you can do anything you put your mind to it when you need to do things, you always need to keep your head up when you are in a low place in life, and when you get out of the “hole” that you are in you will feel a lot better about yourself and the accomplishments that you have completed. I can connect to this poem because I got out of a dark hole last year when I met my best friend and she helped me realize that not everything will be bad in life I just need to keep my head up high and think about the good things that come and go.
For my poem, I wanted to do what I go through daily something that has always bothered me and been in my life and that's been very difficult. My poem is mostly about a broken family and what causes a family and what family should be doing and what they do do in the arms of a broken family. I feel like I relate to my palm in many different ways. In the poem that talks about what family is supposed to be doing and what they do do instead of the poet talks about how the family is supposed to build you up but instead it brings you down and have her family is supposed to be able to wipe away her tears instead of causing them and how they weren't the ones to stick around when she needed them. I feel like this is Been what I have gone through. I feel like my family shuts me out daily and instead of helping me out with the stuff in the problems that are going through my life instead they decide to judge me more about my mental health issues or what I do to help them instead of understanding what they should be doing instead of how to help me and understanding what's going on inside my head instead of just judging. My family has always been moving around and everything but that's not what tearing apart and staying around in the poem means. I know that the poet means to stay around metaphorically and physically. My mother is always chosen every single man over me. A great example would be my stepfather she chose him when he abused me she chose him when he manipulated me and she even chose him when he touched me. And then she ended up even choosing him when I left it hurts that much more when your mother leaves you behind for something else that wasn't even a part of her life wasn't there for the hardest parts of a divorce or there for the abuse that I endured. I know what the poet feels. In fact, I'm kind of going through it right now was inviting my abusive father that I've learned to forgive because he's apologized and taking the steps to earn back my trust in my love and in fact my forgiveness by admitting his mistakes with his past. My mother expects the same for Mike and her but yet she doesn't seem to understand that they haven't taken any steps nor even apologize I have yet to even seem upset apologetic or feel guilty about the things that they've done. And now for my graduation, they both want to come but I'm not sure that either of them should the only ones that I'm sure about coming or my grandma my father, because they are the only ones that don't judge me when I'm down and help me this one day, is supposed to be about me and the one day that I have been excited about forever I want the people that love me and have chosen me 100% to be there and I don't think that my mother can understand that I've told her that she can come but only her, not Mike my stepfather and when she asked I told her simply that I just didn't want him there because of what he's done and I wanted her to be there because I feel like I should have her there but I'd like her to be nice to my father and not cause a scene she did reply with she doesn't have to and I in return told her that she does not even have to come because this day isn't about hurt and it never will be it's about me. I feel like she still trying to tear me down and her husband is still trying to tear me down as well and I don't know if she wants me to feel selfish or guilty about either of those but I'm trying my best not to because I know it's not wrong of me to want to be happy for one day surrounded by people who are proud of me and want the best for me. Surrounded by the people who chose me and bring me up instead of tearing me down.
My summary of the poem “A Psalm Life” by professor Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, is that its central idea is that life is very sacred. He’s saying we shouldn’t use our time waiting for the grave, for it is not our goal. We should live life to the fullest.
I connect to this poem in that I agree that life is very sacred, and should be used to progress humanity forward. I don’t want to spend every day waiting for the grave, as that’s not the goal I have. I also agree that everyone leaves “a footprint on the sands of time”, especially the people who leave their mark and cause a change in the world. I agree that people who feel as though their goals have to be success are the ones who don’t live to the actual fullest. Overall, this poem connects to me and what I think in many aspects, I feel as though people should push to make a change, progress, and further human society as a whole. We shouldn’t live thinking we have to just get by and wait for it all to be over. We should all be pushing for more.
