The dedication of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest may be referring to someone had a problem that they needed help on and it was successful. I believe it means that for example, R.P. McMurphy has a problem that he went into the institution for. So to say that it helps him and he gets better with his social interactions and his problem is fixed I believe that may be what they mean by "flying over the cuckoo's nest". He is not the best at interacting and getting along with people as you see in the film. Going through this group may help him and make him better at that kind of thing in life. He may come out of the program and be able to get along with people more and not be so violent towards other people and be more friendly and understanding. Riley Larson
What i think that the title of the book means. For starters i think the cokcok nest means the ward were they have been keeping the mentally ill people or another thing it could mean is that the nurse is the one who is ment to cokcok meaning that she is the person who really messes people up by forcing them to do what she says. Then the next part the one who flew over i think that means mcmurphey now why i think that is because he continually tries to escape the ward and i think he is acaulay trying to help the guys who are well enough to show them that the world is really not such a bad place and also to show them how to have a good time and express their emotions. Another thing that i think it means is that he is the only person that went into the ward and was not changed was not affected by what the nurse how she tried to force him to follow a reteine like the other people did when they were in the ward so what i'm saying is that mcmurphy is one of the only ones who came in and went out the same.
All the guys that are in the insulations for doing something world or having a disease that they can't control. They think that just because you different from the people that we call insanity. I don't think most of them did anything wrong to get in there but because the have a disease they are put in the for no reason and i think if you help them get back on there feet i think they would be just fine in the world they wanted to leave and so at the end of the movie he kill the guys because he was already dead inside. So it wasnt murder for killing him and the cheef goes and picks up the water spout stuff and throw it out the window.

Valdez- I believe that One Flew Over the Cuckoo's nest has a bigger meaning the people think. I think it refers to death and McMurphy and how he had such an overview and impact on the peoples' lives in the hospital that now that he is actually dead that his spirit is now over the hospital (cuckoos nest) for crazy people. It can also have a meaning of how he had just happened to be put in with a bunch of crazy people and he is that one who is actually looking out for them. He did not follow the rules and he wanted to make their lives better because he saw how sad their lives were.
I think that it means something way more than what we can see. I believe it does show that even the worse of a person can bring out the best and kindest person of someone else. I also believe that the way of McMurphy's language and the way the people were able to talk to him and he talked back and wanted them to all have fun was a true meaning to show that the little things were able to bring the best out of these people. All of the guys even chief that never went with them on the bus, boat or any of that new he was able to stand by his side and say we are friends.
I think that One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest means that somebody was in the Cuckoo's Nest and flew out of it or over it and I think that was chief because in the beginning of the movie he acted like he was deaf and couldn't talk but when mc Murphy came there at the beginning he was kind of making front of him but as the movie goes on McMurphy wants chief to play basketball and chief was acting that he couldn't hear so McMurphy was trying to get him to shoot the ball but he wouldn't but as time goes on when they were playing the guards chief when he made the first basketball everybody started cheering. He realized that they were cheering for them and then when he blocked the basket they starting cheering again then he got happy and smiled. He is starting to feel that he’s worth something now and that nobody will talk him down. He is starting to talk to McMurphy and their planning on how they would escape because I think chiefs want to where McMurphy goes because McMurphy is the only one that believes in him and won’t shut him down. So that’s why I think chiefs flew over the Cuckoo’s nest because somebody believes in him and will let him talk.
When he says he told him that dragons do not exist he meant literally. He then figuratively led him to their lairs with his imagination. The mind does not know what is real and what is not real so we can imagine things in such a surreal way and the only other way to get others to see that on paper is to either make a drawing, or animation, or even better, to write about it. I believe that Vik Lovell wrote about these "dragons" and showed him through the power of writing and imagination what the human mind can truly do. It is inspiring, empowering, and extremely potent. The image is a result of not just our sense of sight but our imagination from which the root word is combined. Without a thought and a creative mind nothing we would see could have any meaning or reason. Everyone has a different story but through sharing them in writing we can keep those stories, those symbolic memories to teach lessons we learned to those who read them after we passed. The imagination takes everything literally but applies symbolism to insert meaning into our daily lives. We should appreciate authors more than we do.
The one who flew over the cuckoo's nest means to be the only sane person in a mental institution. The cuckoo's nest represents the people who are the mental ward and McMurphy is the one who flew over it. He was the only person who was sane in there including Nurse Ratchet. Nurse Ratchet couldn't have been sane if she can mentally justify the way she treats people who have less authority than her. If she has the ability to treat people the way that she does knowing that they can't stand up for themselves than that means she is just as crazy as the rest of them. McMurphy did not fly over the Cuckoos nest thought because he wounded up brain dead by the end of the film. Chief did, however, escape the cuckoo's nest because he ran away and escaped at the end. It doesn't say weather chief successfully escaped but I would assume he did and he probably made it out and all the way to Canada. Nobody truley did completely fly over the cuckoo's nest but one did escape and two were killed. Joseph Wardlow
I think it's talking about how after Chief lifted and carried the big marble vanity and broke through the window. He did that because his plan was to escape with McMurphy and go to Canada. But after McMurphy tried to kill the nurse, they do a procedure on him so that it calms his brain down cause the workers in the institution think he is going crazy. Like when he took all the guys out to go fishing when he started driving away from the bus. The other guys started to like him because they never got to go and do anything outside of the institution. So when McMurphy first got to the institution, they didn't really know what to think of him. Hood- pd.4
I think the title “One flew over the Cuckoo’s nest” is just another way to say someone stepped in your little circle. Like the institution is Nurse Ratchets and she runs the whole building, controlling who can leave and who has to stay. Making sure it is all running accordingly and the way she wants it to be run. She just wants full power over everyone. When McMurphy stepped foot into the institution it all changed people looked up to him and people were happier. The people in the building saw him as a good friend and others may have seen him as a role model. But nurse Ratchet didn’t like him because he was misbehaved and didn't follow her rules like she wanted everyone to. He kinda did his own thing made it a better place and did what he could to make his time spent there worth his time. He is making it very different for everyone that is there making it more lively and getting everyone to stand up for themselves. Showing everyone how to have emotions, having fun and all that and Ratchet doesn’t like that either so he is stepping in her little circle that is the institution that McMurphy is changing and making it overall a better place for everyone there. McMurphy even found out how to have respect for others and care for others while he was doing time there.
The book of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest means to me is when a person has a problem and needs help to control themselves for the real world. The place came successfully by allowing mental people to come to volunteer. When McMurphy came into the institution they thought he was dangerous, not crazy. Nurse Ratched thought it would be good for McMurphy to stay in the institution for help and not let him go somewhere else to deal with him. McMurphy's good on trying to make the patients feel good about themselves. For example when McMurphy took them to go fishing and called them doctors which they all played along with which everyone was happy and smiling. Flew over the Cuckoo's nest to me is when someone's not right in the head like McMurphy but when McMurphy tries to escape he has a good heart and wanted Chef to go with him to experience life and not be trapped in the Institution. He maybe thinks people that aren't that crazy should actually experience the world when there ready. Lastly, I found this movie very interesting to watch and seeing people like the chef and the others act like which may not handle the world like other people do.
the cuckoo's nest has a meaning to it like there in the nest and the nurse never wants them to leave the nest because when birds leave there nest they take a chance and can't fly and she doesn't want people to take chances on flying and becoming better she wants to keep them down but R.P McMurphy wants them to leave the nest because he sees nothing wrong with them he believes that all these people could go to do something good with lives and that with Mcmurffys risks himself and the nest wanted to make it so they couldn't make it out of there so they took away the problem but by taking him out it made it so the chief could see that he had to leave the nest .
One flew over the Cuckoo's Nest means to me is. The people in the institution are in the hospital to do something wrong in the outside world and have a disease they can’t control. Just because you have a disease people just automatically assume you have a something wrong you and that's false information because people might not be normal then everyone else then again no one is normal everyone is different in their own way. In the movie I don’t think they didn’t do anything wrong they were just in a lonely mindset because they haven’t done anything exciting while they were in there intel R.P. McMurphy went to institution and changed everyone mindset and made them positive and showed them a better life especially chief he changed his life and made it better for him and everyone else. Before McMurphy came along chief was pretending he was deaf and mute because he thought was the smallest and weakest out of everyone that was there. When McMurphy he changed everyone that was at the hospital mindset for the better he even got Chief to talk and make him feel he is not worthless and has a purpose to live example is when they were playing basketball and McMurphy told Chief to stand over by the basket and raise your hand up high and when Chief got the basketball and put it in the hoop and everyone got all excited I think he knew he had a purpose. I think Chief didn’t murder McMurphy he knew he wasn’t there mentally and physically he didn’t want to see him in pain anymore so he took him out of his misery and escape and that’s why I think he flew over the cuckoo's nest.
Keisha Felcher. The book dedication might be for McMurphy because he died in the movie and the book. After they found out that one of the guys killed himself McMurphy started attacking Nurse Ratched. So then he had something bad done to him. When they were done he laid down on his bed but he was gone just not his body. So Chief killed him by suffocating him to death. To me I think that’s what it means.
The title of the book is called one flew over the cuckoo's nest. The title of this book could have many meanings towards it but i believe that he choose this title for it because that one person could have the biggest effect on someone life when that person didn't even know that it was possible for them to even have a big affect on people when all they were doing was being themselves. The title of this book means that just because someone is different in there own ways doesn't mean they are not normal. The book title also could mean that there was a momma bird protecting her baby birds while she flew over top of the nest looking for food and looking for the best for her babys.
I think it means or is referring to the fact that what you do or say could impact someone's life in ways in which you don't know, and that's why you should always be honest, and be kind. You don't wanna lie to someone about something, and then when they find out later that you lied be hurt by what you said. You don't wanna be the reason someone is hurting or why someones hurt themselves. Every little thing you do or say affects everything and that should be considered when you are saying something to someone. If you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all. Be nice, be kind, let people know the truth, let someone know that you care and that they aren't alone. Be a helping hand. -zoie hite
I think the One Who Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is McMurphy because think of it as a birds nest the people inside the institution are baby birds. As we all know baby bird need help in life like the guys do in the movie/book. I think McMurphy is the momma bird the helps them because he makes them happy and makes them smile and do other things they usually wouldn't have done. The works there and Nurse Ratched are like other adult bird that fly around and the baby birds can watch. Finn
