Riley Larson Pd.4 Applied English 12 I believe that if there was a sequel to this film this is somewhat how it would go. I believe that in the beginning, Karl would still be in the institution. Even though he left off the 1st Slingblade in the institution, the second one he would to only it would begin 20 years in the future. Karl would then get released after being in there for 20 years and he would start off on a journey to find Frank and Linda. He would search everywhere around and he would ask everyone that he knew on help to find them. Karl would then eventually find out where they are living and it would be totally out of state like on the other side of the country. After that, he would do odd end jobs just to get enough money for a plane ticket. When he lands in their state he would go to their house and it would be night time so he would sit on a rocking bench that they would have placed on their front porch. He would wait and wait until morning time and Linda would wake up in the morning and get ready for work and she would open the door and to her surprise see Karl on the doorstep. Linda would immediately call Frank, who lived a few miles away to come to her house because they had a visitor. Frank would arrive at his mom's house and see Karl sitting on the bench. They would then all go inside and eat some breakfast and catch up with each other. After all of that Linda would offer Karl to stay in her spare room to have somewhere to live. Frank would thank Karl for what he did even though it was murder Frank would thank him for making their life easier. Then the film would end by Karl and Frank going back to their hometown and they would be sitting at their old spot by the lake reminiscing about the times they had before.
I think doyle is a bad person in the movie but if he would be a parent i think he would be mean to his kids. I don't wish that upon anyone in there life the the sad truth is that it happens more times then we know about. I hate that it happened to people and i wish i could stop it. Story I knew a friend that was getting hurt at there house and i found out about it and my friend and i went there and got her and kelp her for a couple of days like three and then we told the cops about and they finally did something about it because before they didnt do anything about it. When she was with my family she cried because of what went on and i felt so bad for her it broke me.
In the prequel of this movie, I would imagine that they show him as a child, getting mistreated, killing his momma and Jesse, and then what his life has been like growing up in the state hospital. It would show his mom reading to him every night. It would show how his dad only fed him two to three times a week. It would show his mom lying about bible stories. After he kills his mother and Jesse, it would show him growing up in the institution. Learning how to read, learning to understand the bible. It would show him getting better over the years. How he grew into who he is. Why he wants to do so much good in this world. It would also show his parents giving birth to his little brother, and telling him to get rid of the thing, and then it would show him eating his biscuits and mustard, and then sleeping in that hole in the ground. It would show how cruel his father treats him and maybe how his momma didn't do anything about it to help him. It would show all the kids being mean to him and why he didn’t wanna go to school that much. It would show who his daddy worked for and his boy. It would show Karl, dreaming about being loved by his family, and treated kindly by others, but waking up to his momma or daddy yelling at him for some god awful reason. It would show Karl, walking up to his house, not understanding what’s going on. It would show Jesse beating on Karl at school, all the boys making fun of him because his momma was real pretty. It would show Karl, this little boy, who everyone made out to seem to be a monster. He isn’t a monster though, he is just a little ole boy who needs a little loving in his life and to be shown that he’s cared about. The end of the movie though would leave off with the beginning of Sling Blade. When he is talking to the creep, and then the reporters come to talk to him.
I believe that at the beginning of the movie before we saw him in the hospital, he has always been quite wondering about the outside world, wanting to be out there learning the way of life and being normal. Before that, he was used to being locked up with little talking and no education. With being the only one to be out there and the only person in that shed he was lonely and started to do the hard thing to calm himself. The sequel I think would be more of that Frankie and his mother is not so mad at Karl for doing that but scared yet satisfied. I feel like Karl would be let out or even bailed out somehow and put back into the family. I feel like he would maybe try and go and hurt someone else that tries to hurt that family and their friends. They all knew what was going to happen but yet didn't want to stop him because they know they couldn't. I also believe that he would spend the rest of his life in that place for killing another person this time with the actual mind of thinking to do it.
They grew up in the thirties. They survived the forties. They grew wealthy in the fifties but soon found themselves once again in a poor economic condition that would limit them to a house just outside of town. The father would have to work under someone the same age as him who just got a little luckier. He got married, and he moved his wife in with him. Mr. Childers was a cold, calculated man. He never told anyone he liked them, he never told his wife he loved her. He was not a man of God. One day they had a kid, they named him Karl. Soon they figured out he was mentally handicapped in some way, and decided that he ought to stay in the barn. At age five they started keeping him out there all the time and occasionally brought him food. Barely able to scrape by on their own they couldn't afford to send Karl to school so they taught him lessons about the Bible, not all of them true. Their life was getting worse with the economy and soon his wife lost faith in her hard working but cold husband. Karl was twelve now and one night he was sitting down out in his shed when he heard a commotion from the house. What he saw would lead to the events of "Sling Blade".
When Frank and Linda returned to their home and the police case was closed they felt sorrow, and they grieved. They lost someone very important to them. They miss Karl and they wish there was another way to get rid of Doyle without Karl being sent away. On the other hand, though, they knew he was better off at the nervous hospital. The world was too big for Karl. He knew that it was cold and calculating, just like his father and that he would have to keep killing. He knew he would feel that it was necessary to eradicate those evils from the world. He understands it is wrong and immoral, but he believes God will not send someone who has purely kind hearted intentions to hades. Frank can now grow up to reach his full potential rather than wither and die before seeing what the world has to offer like Karls little brother.
The movie Sling Blade I believe is a great movie because it teaches us that we should never judge someone because of there mental or physical disabilities. Everyone is perfect just the way you were made. We all have a purpose that we are meant to serve. Mentally disabled Karl Childers (Billy Bob Thornton) is released from the mental hospital where he has spent most of his life after murdering his mother and her lover. He soon forms a bond with Frank (Lucas Black), a boy whose father committed suicide. When Frank's mother, Linda (Natalie Canerday), lets Karl stay at their house, her cruel boyfriend, Doyle (Dwight Yoakam), tries to get Karl removed. Determined to protect his friend, Karl devises a way to save Frank from years of Doyle's abuse. Karl spent over 20 years in a psychiatric hospital for killing his mother and her lover. Released into the community from which he came, he befriends and protects a lonely boy regularly harassed and abused by his mom's boyfriend. In the end, Karl tells Frank that he loves him. And he says that the night he is going to kill Doyle. But in the end Karl ends up with a friend he will never forget.- Hood pd.4
When the movie Sling Blade ends Doyle was being cocky and told Karl what are you doing here I told you to leave. Then Karl responded I’m here to kill you. Karl said what do you do to dial the police and Doyle responds, put in 911 and bring a herce and an ambulance while you're at it. Then Karl hit Doyle with a blade while waiting for the police while eating biscuits.. Then Karl is in the hospital again with the Charles Bushman. Karl might get furious with Charles because with his personality and being rude especially talking about Frank. In my opinion what the sequel be like how Karl would still remain the same person he’s always been. Do the same routine while he’s there like before. I bet that Frank and his mother Linda Wheatley would come to visit with him. Maybe not right away but some point during his life. I have also been thinking that maybe Frank and Linda will move somewhere else to start a new life and have new people around them but come around over the years. The girl that likes Karl named Melinda may come to visit and bring him a flower and start a new life with each other when he gets out of the hospital. Then after a couple of years when they decide to let Karl go again and get French fries and work for a lawnmower company if someone hires him. Then get a house with Melinda and maybe some pets. But in my opinion, they won't let him get released because of committing a crime twice. He will stay there for life or until he gets really old. I think Karl is doing the right thing but in the wrong ways. Like I said before Karl has a terrible childhood and he didn't know what good and bad in the world so he thought killing was the only way. He has a really good heart like in the other blog we had to write about. He will never really have to hurt anyone again unless there treating another family wrong like Doyle but you can tell he doesn't really like killing.
When the movie Sling Blade ends Doyle was being cocky and told Karl why are you here I told you to leave. Karl responded back to Doyle saying I'm here to kill you. Karl asked Doyle how do you dial 911 and Doyle responded back to Karl saying you put 911 in telephone and you might as well bring a hearse and ambulance. Karl then went back to the living room where Doyle was sitting in his chair and Doyle asked Karl why you have that lawnmower blade and then Karl started hitting Doyle and killed Doyle and waiting for the police to arrive while he was eating biscuits with mustard. Karl ended up back in the state hospital again and Charles Bushman was talking to Karl and he mention Frank and Karl stood up for himself and told him to never talk about that boy again. In my opinion I think the sequel would be like how would be the same person as he always been. He would do the same routine while he’s there like as before. I think Frank and his mother Linda Wheatley would come see Karl from time to time. I don’t think they would go see him right away but some time during his life. I also think Frank and maybe his mother Linda would go move somewhere and start a new life and and meet new people. The girl Melinda the girl that likes Karl might go see Karl from time to time and go give him flowers and they might go start a new life with each other if Karl gets out of the hospital. In my option I don’t think Karl is getting out of the State hospital anytime soon. Especially they found out he committed crime twice. He will probably stay in there intel he gets old. I think Karl had a horrible childhood he was raised horribly and no one should be raised like that. He didn’t learn what was wrong and right was. He didn’t know was the real world was he was just learned how to protect the people you care about. He knows he will never hurt anyone again unless there truly treating them or another family wrong like Doyle but you can tell by how his actions he didn’t like killing others.
I think before the movie, Karl was very abused by his parents. That is why he acted the way he did. He wasn't taught right from wrong and he was just a little kid. His brain was not yet developed fully and by the time his brain was developed he was in the institution so he had little no interaction with people from outside. Even as a kid at home. He was in the shed all the time and wasn't allowed inside the house so again, he had little to no interaction with people which meant other people couldn't teach him right from wrong. When he had to bury his little brother, even though he did not want to I think he did because he was barely getting enough attention and food the way it was and he probably didn't want him to go through the same thing that he was going through because the dad said that he didn't want the baby and he didn't want him to feel unwanted like he did.
Keisha Felcher. A sequel that might have happened might have been about Karl getting out of the mental hospital. He might of went to visit Linda and Frank and to check and see how they are doing. Also, he would go to visit his other friends to check on them. He would get a job and save up enough money to live on his own for his own apartment. He is living his best life, a good one. He might be dating someone right now or he is interested in someone that’s interested in him. He might be happy with his life that he is living now. He also regretted doing what he did because he could have been a better person if he hadn’t done those things in the past.
What i think would happen if they made sling blade 2. I think that Karl would still be in the mental hospital but i think that Karl and his mother would try to help him and i think they do that by trying to explain in better detail what had happened when doyle was murdered. So the next part would be that they would try to find a lawyer to try to prove Karls inicinces by going to court. Then at the court hearing i think they would first explain that Karl has autism or explain that he doesn't know how to explain things in detail that wear the next part would be to tell the judge that doyle was a truly horrible person and was constantly drunk and that made him very abusive. Then the next part that would have to be explained is why doyle was murdered i think frank or his mother would explain frank felt that doyle was going to hurt frank or his family sooner or later so that is when i think that Karl would try to tell the judge that doyle was never going to change or leave that family alone so that is when he thought that someone had to get rid of him. That is when they would have to try to really explain to the judge that by killing doyle it was to defend or protect the people that Karl cares about. Then i think that the judge would see that what happen was to protect or to help so i believe that the judge would declare not guilty or say that he can be released from the mental hospital. Then after he is released i think that frank and his mom would ask him to move back in with them and he would also probably get his job back at the hardware store and help out frank by being a father figure and help by providing money for them.
After the event that took place in Sling Blade there were probably a lot of interesting emotions people were going through. The most interesting emotion a character was probably feeling Karl killed Doyle I think might be Vaughan because in the back of Vaughan’s mind he probably knew exactly what Karl was planing. I think Vaughan would have probably been very conflicted on how he felt when after Doyle was killed because in the back of Vaughan’s mind he knew exactly what Karl had been planning. Vaughan probably felt extremely relieved knowing that Frank and Linda were now safe from Doyle, but he probably also felt extreme guilt because he knew that something like this would happen. Vaughan was probably happy that the situation was taken care of, but he was not happy with the way it was taken care. Even though Vaughan probably did not wish death upon Doyle he knew that was the only way to get rid of him for good which probably helped Vaughan justify Karl’s actions in his own head. Frank probably had some interesting emotions too, but his were probably very different. Frank went through his dad dying so even though Frank is young he understands just how real death is. Frank probably isn’t happy Doyle was killed, but he is happy that he is gone for good. Linda was probably the only character to miss Doyle since he was her boyfriend, but after awhile she’ll understand that it was only for the best. -Joseph Wardlow
if there was a sling blade 2 it would be when he was older and he would probably be too old to anything to harm anyone and he could meet up with Frank but Frank might forget about him before he gets out. so I think there could be a prequel for when he was a kid and it shows him getting bullied and going thru some hardships .it could build up to the point where it shows him burying his little brother. another part it could show us the lies that his parents told him about the bible and how school was for him.the end of the fill could be after he cuts off his moms head and it will show him going to the mental hospital. noah h
I thought the movie sling blade was a great movie. it shows that older people can be a leader for younger kids no matter what their past was like. Frank went through his dad dying so even though Frank is young he understands just how real death is. Frank probably isn’t happy Doyle was killed, but he is happy that he is gone for good. Linda was probably the only character to miss Doyle since he was her boyfriend, but after a while, she’ll understand that it was only for the best. I believe if there was a sequel to the movie sling blade I feel that it would show more of Karl’s day to day life in the hospital like what he does during the day where he eats and what he eats for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Where he washes his clothes and who he hangs out with during the day and if he gets to go outside or not. And then 40 years later when he gets out of the hospital again because he isn’t deemed insane anymore he would try to go to his dad’s house first to see if he is still around just for a quick visit first. After that, he would go see if he could have his old job back at the mechanic shop and the guy would hire him back because he knows so much about motors even tho he killed 3 people. After he gets his old job back he drops his things off at the mechanic shop and then he would try to go see the little kid again and his mother is more hesitated this time for him to come around because he did kill the person that she loved and she doesn’t want him to hurt the little kid but the kid wants him around because he knows that Karl wouldn’t hurt him or his mother and after about a month then the mother finally lets Karl stay at the house again. After a while, the little boys' mother finds a new boyfriend and he actually likes the little boy and Karl and Karl tell the person if you hurt these people you will pay and the guy comes back with I wouldn't hurt these people. They have their first Christmas together and Karl for Christmas gives them his old books and says I read this 300 times not it’s your turn to read and for Karl’s Christmas gift. He gets new books that he hasn’t read before. After a few years gone by the mother gets married to this guy and the little kids like him so he aboard and then they live happily ever after.
In my opinion i feel as if there could not really be a sequel for sling blade bause all it would show is life in the asylum because now he has three murders on his hands and he will spend the rest of his life in there. There could probably be a 30 min clip of what his life had become and what it became till he dies from him being in the asylum. It would just show him maybe reading book ro such as looking out of the window like head done before his time had ended the first time. I definitely feel as if there could be a prequel towards this movie and shine more light towards his childhood. In the prequel you can show him being born and how his parents treated him as a child. Could also show when he was put in to shed because i feel as if karl wasn't always in the shed and there was maybe a point in his childhood that what his actions did that put him in the shed. Also can show of him burying his baby brother and seeing the him and having a hard impact on his child by having too do that. Also can shine some light on to how karl acted in school whether he was bullied as a child or maybe everybody liked him. Did he have school buddies? There could have been a part in his life where he didn't have a disability and it really wasn't as a big of a struggle for him to put words or doing things with much more eas. You can also shine some light on to what his mothers and fathers life like when they went to work because it all had ties with the first movie. It would all make sense having a prequel because in my opinion there need to be a lot more light shine upon things in the movie.
