I believe the best part of the narrative is when he first gets on to the life raft safely. Like I don't get how that was even possible I don't believe that anyone could ever survive those waves I feel like he definitely would have fallen off the raft eventually especially with that storm going all night. Some of those waves were like 30 ft plus it looked like. Then when he was riding through the waves in the raft and the tiger swam across and grabbed onto the raft. If I were him at that moment I would've panicked and tried to grab one of those wooden paddles and smacked the tiger in the head as hard as I could with hopes to knock the tiger out or even off of the raft so I'd be able to smack him some more to maybe kill him. Because if I were him I know I wouldn't want to be on the life raft with any animal that dangerous and deadly.

I believe the best part of the narrative is when he first gets on the raft safely and survives the thunderstorm. I don’t get how it's even possible to can survive the ocean waves and how powerful they move the raft and still be alive I believe he had to fall off the waves during the night while the storm was still happening all night. Some of the waves were 30ft plus it looked like during the movie. While the storm was still happening he was riding the waves and the tiger swam across and started to grab onto the raft. If was him at the moment I would have freaked and froze in mid fear and started to think to myself should I kill the tiger or help him survive and help him onto the raft. Yes at the moment of time I myself wouldn’t want a tiger that could kill me and but having the tiger being alive can keep me occupied and not going insane and the tiger can help me survive and protect me. The other animals can try to kill me and the tiger can attack and protect me from dying while I can do the same I can collect food like shown in the movie.

I think the best part about the Narrative I would say is when Pi was telling the story when he was on the cruise ship with his family with the huge storm and sunk the cruise ship. That part wasn’t so great but the part when he was on a single boat just himself with other animals and the furious animal the tiger. I never knew that tigers can be seasick that why he may be hiding under the tarp to calm him down. The hyena which wanted to kill everything he or she saw because of the privacy of his or her territory. Then the monkey/ape floating towards the lifeboat didn't harm anyone but got killed by the hyena. Then the zebra which was already on the boat just laying there and also got killed by the hyena and for me that was sad and hard to watch. Then goes the tiger that popped out of nowhere and ate the hyena. Then the one person Pi got to experience all of that chaos with all the animals on that lifeboat. Lastly with no one there to help just open water and a lion but thankfully he read the manual and found a bunch of food supplies to eat so he won't starve to death and someday the note he wrote would reach land so someone could help soon.

What i think about the movie. To start off i like how he explains his life story to the author and also how he was loyal to so many religions. Some questions that i have. What did he do with the bodys from the animals that were killed did the tiger eat them would pie have a better relationship with the tiger or not be so afraid if his dad did not show him that richard parker was a vicious carnivore also what island did they end up on and why are there so many mirrors cats. Another part i'm curious about is are pye parents dead and how long was he out in the middle of the ocean how long did it take him to train the tiger to be more obedient does he still have the tiger after all that happens or does he not make it through the rest of the journey. I also think that this has been one of the best movies that we have done with narratology and iom also inserted to see how the book is different from the movie.

That it is based on a real life and this stuff could happen in real life and so it work with that part of it because i like movies that are real If I were him at that moment I would've panicked and tried to grab one of those wooden paddles and smacked the tiger in the head as hard as I could with hopes to knock the tiger out or even off of the raft so I'd be able to smack him some more to maybe kill him. I like the part where he was learning from his mom about religion and he took that path and that he is taking in as many gods as he can to see what the purpose is for those gods and that he made it on to the raft and about how they made it on to the raft and when he almost dies he doesn't see his dad he sees his mom meaning that his dad wasn't that important to him or that he is training a tiger thats the only reason why hes living it gives him a perpose to keep living.

I think the best part of the narrative is when Pi has the chance to let Richard Parker drown but after a lot of thinking and contemplating the decision he chooses to let Richard Parker live. Pi doesn't want to watch Richard Parker die because it is the only thing in his life that gives him meaning in life at this point. He would be lonely if he let Richard Parker die and if he has nothing to take care of other than himself he would begin to find it hard to find meaning in life. Taking care of Richard Parker is what keeps Pi somewhat sane as he stays a castaway in the ocean. As Pi says his fear of Richard Parker keeps him alert and aware of his surroundings and therefore keeps him alive. Pi has to use fear to motivate him to live. He needs to gather more food because he wants to live with Richard Parker, but Pi is okay with that.

I think its crazy how the tiger doesn't just eat the kid or bite him at all. I also see it hard to believe that when the tiger leaves the boat i doubt it would come back and stay on the boat for that long.

The best of this narrative is that it shows a could be real life even that could have happened or could happen to someone in the future. It shows in my mind wisdom of hope for people that struggle with life and how to keep going after some hard times in their life. It does show that you can persevere through anything if you keep your mind to it and or keep your head up and listen and keep the fire going in there life by just thinking and keeping busy. This movie is just full of life in a person that could go through such a devastating loss and a hard time just trying to eat and drink clean fresh water.

The best part about this narrative so far would have to be the background on how everything came to be. Also the background of pi. I like how he started off as this little child and not knowing much of anything about surviving on his own. I like how it shows that the things he went through could happen to anyone and it should be a life reflection on how everyone should live there life to the fullest and not take days granted because anything can happen and everything you once loved and cared about could be gone in the blink of an eye. -Frederickson

I think the best part of the narrative is when Pi is trying to tame Richard Parker. Also, another part that I like is when Pi is sitting next to Richard Parker and he tells him that it's going to be ok and they will get to help soon. I like these parts because it shows how Richard Parker is starting to trust Pi because he doesn't have anyone else left.

I think the best narrative is when he is swimming in the ocean after falling out of the boat and all the sharks are swimming by him, and one literally was like within 3 feet of him and it didn't attack him. The sharks were only attacking the zoo animals but if Pi was moving around at first why didn't they also attack him? He is also just as helpless in the water as the animals were against the sharks, and he was also easy dinner so why would they just swim right on by? I also like that it shows him kind of building this dominance order with Richard Parker and trying to show him who is the boss by marking his territory and the tiger marks Pi as territory by peeing on him. I think the tiger learns quite fast that the boy is trying to save him and keep him fed so he will be happy and I think that is why he doesn't hurt the kid and lets the kid think that he is in control over both of them. -Zoie Hite

I think the best part of the narrative so far is that in the end I expected the writer to not believe him. I expected him to tell him his story is goofy and to condemn him for believing in all that nonsense but he doesn't. He agrees, and that is the part that I think is the best of the narrative. I'd like to read the novel and understand more but the movie does a good job. The Lion is what makes this story unique. I think the best part of the narrative is the plot itself. It is entirely symbolic and teaches some of the best lessons a person can learn and it makes it easy for people to take these lessons seriously and in mind. If I had a second favorite scene or lesson it would be from the island. Just because you have everything you could want does not mean that you should stay where you are. People are social and without contact you might have everything in seclusion but it is when you come out of your shell and take risks that brings you the real happiness in life. I encourage people to come out of their shell and to be as big as they possibly can be. It is the only thing we can do that truly rewards us mentally and emotionally.

Valdez- I believe that the best part of this narrative is him talking about how he had to explain to the Japenese men what happened and they didn't believe him so they told him to tell the truth. So he makes up a story that sounds more believable but symbolizes much more and has characteristics of the original story. Then he asks the reporter which he believed was the real story and the reporter said the one with a tiger sounded like and made a better story. The later the reporter looks at the file of the shipwreck and sees that it tells the story of the tiger. I think that Pi was trying to see the mans reaction of both stories and see what he really believes and see if he now believes in God and that the story about the Japanese men not believing him didn't happen.

The best part of this narrative so far is how he fell off the boat and lived even with the waves and the boat sinking next to him. It isn't likely that you're gonna live when you sink a boat in a storm. That and he survived with a zebra, ape and a hyena on the boat too. I don't think just anyone could have lived through that. It helped him out because his dad's friend was a professional swimmer and had been teaching him how to swim. I don't think he would have been able to live if he didn't know how to handle animals from growing up in a zoo. So I don't think that it is very likely just anyone could have lived through the storm and being stranded on a life raft for that long.

Keisha Felcher. I like this narrative and how Richard Parker and the kid form a bond towards the end of the movie. It’s also interesting seeing how he survived that long and what he did to achieve that. I also think that the tiger has a very important role in this movie. I also feel like it was meant for the tiger to go onto the boat with him. I also feel like it was meant for the kid to wake up during the storm.

The best part about the narrative so far would have to be how he survived the shipwreck that would have to be my favorite part because how he survived is that he woke up and ask his brother to come with but he didn't want to and he wanted to go but if he did go with he had a chance to survive but when pi gets on the lifeboat and he was trying to hold on but then when pi see something in the water he tries and helps them but he doesn't realize that it's Richard Parker and he helps him get on the boat. In the morning that he survived, he had a zebra on his boat and there was a hyena and Richard Parker and then in the morning he gets an ape one the boat and the hyena go for the zebra and pi tries and stops him but he doesn't want to kill any animal at that time. The tiger has sea sickness so he didn't kill the hyena in time. I think that the tiger is a good thing because if it's true the tiger is the only thing that keeps him alive because he always is alert and ready to defend himself and he always has to go to the boat to get more food and he wants to keep richard parker alive because he could stay alert.
