Invent the events that would have logically led up to the novel, or the ones that would follow the action (or something that may happen, but Chief doesn't witness, so he cannot tell us about).
For example, what is Nurse Ratched's daily life like at home? (You certainly do not have to answer this question.)

For a prequel and a sequel to happen in this book it would have to be for chief and what his life had to show before he was institutionalized in the mental state hospital. When chief was growing up there wasn't much for him to show upon. His dad was built same structure as himself, except there was one big difference between his father and chief. Chiefs father was a hard alcoholic so his relationship with his father wasn't good, it usually ended upon beating and chief shutting his mouth and being quite. When chief was in his twenties he had in dited himself into the hospital. He didn't talk much or did he do much. When the doctors were sitting there examining chief trying to figure out was wrong with him, he didn't say a chirp and he just sat in there chair not saying a peep. Chief had probably been in the hospital for a good ten years before mcmurphy showed up at the hospital. Mcmurphy shows up and he notice chief big structure and try to make a few jokes with him but fellow patients informed mcmurphy of what was up with chief. Mcmurphy found that out and it still did not affect on how he acted towards chief, he tried to show him how to play basketball to dunk the basketball. Doing this mcmurphy give chief hope that he had not seen in years. Chief had thought that words and talking had died a long time ago and he was never going to talk again. Mcmurphy and chief make a plan to leave the place after a lot of other things go down inside the hospital and after mcmurphy finds out that chief is after somewhat sane in the head. Once chief and mcmurphy get a game plan they celebrate their last day inside the hospital they get drunk and show the other patients what it is actually like to enjoy your time and not sit a level underneath everybody but be on that same level with everyone else. Mcmurphy and chief both pass out intoxicated after the show billy to the room with one of the two women that mcmurphy had snuck in. They all wake up the next morning with ms. ratchet howling at them to get up and as well with her helpers saying the same thing. Ms. ratchet blows everything out of proportion when she see what had happen that night. Billy was still in the room with the women. Billy studers had cleared up for the most part until ms. ratchet starts picking him alive and surely enough they come back. Billy gets put in a room and they all leave but as they do that he goes and takes his life away. Mcmurphy didn't like that one bit so he almost killed ms.ratchet but that didn't end well for him. Mcmurphy almost killing ms ratchet brought him to testing and shocking that would forever change his life from that day on. Chief couldn't sleep and all the sudden he sees someone slowly walking down the hall, it mcmurphy but it wasn't the mcmurphy chief had known two days ago he had change he had no motor skills in him. He wasn't able to do anything except maybe chew food and that is maybe. Chief realizes that and take it into his own hands. Chief suffocates the new mcmurphy because he knew the old mcmurphy would not want that for himself. After chief does that he goes to the washroom and take the podium picks it up and chucks it threw the window what mcmurphy ahd once bet money upon that he was gonna be able to do that and escape. Chief accomplishes that and run of into the sun set but for chief there wasn't much for him to live for after that because while he was running it had set off an alarm and had alerted one of the guards and they wound up shooting him dead.

For the missing part, Billy just got caught behind closed doors with another woman and his clothes off. The doctor caught him and was very mad and he begged the doctor not to tell his mom. That's the part we witness in the film. But after that when Billy is sitting in the room away from everyone he was sitting there feeling mad at himself for his decision. He was angry also that his mother was going to be informed and he was nervous about how she would view that. He sat there all alone and tried to think of the best way to handle the situation. He stood there and cried and cried trying to figure out what to do and praying to god that nothing bad comes out of it. Billy finally came to the conclusion in his mind that the only thing that could get him out of this situation was to kill himself. So he grabbed the sharpest item around his location and put it in his arm and cut through many veins until he bled out.

In the Cuckoo's Nest, I believe that some of the events that would've led up to the novel be how they found McMurphy and how they brought him to the institution. Also for a prequel/sequel to happen the Chief would have to show up and how he ended up getting into the institution. I feel like it would've helped to have known how the rest of the men got into the state institution. It would've helped to have known there background stories a little bit better. Why couldn't the Chief sleep at night? Why did he only start talking at the end of the movie when McMurphy was trying to teach him how to play basketball? Does he have PTSD that isn't making him talk? In the beginning, he introduced himself and being deaf and dumb. But I'm wondering why he wouldn't try and use sign language to show that he was really deaf and wasn't able to speak. Another thing is why does Billy stutter around Nurse Ratched and he barely stutters around McMurphy and the other guys. Also, what if McMurphy liked Nurse Ratched when he first saw her? It seems like he does when he first walks into the institution and sees her.

The Sequel/ Prequel that led us up to the novel could be Chief life before this and what could happen when he was a child. His parents mostly his father could be really strict and really quiet. Something about his childhood could ruin him to be happy in life and nothing could change that. In school, he was probably been severely bullied and also could beat up his classmates that have to be controlled. It made him feel like it would be safer to keep thought and actions safer inside. People wouldn't pick on him and give him crap about what he looks like. He fooled everyone on think he’s deaf but he actually can hear everything your saying. I loved the part when Chief actually had a smile on his face playing basketball. My guess is Chief parents didn't have much to his parents sent him away. He isn’t like anyone else and would be safer in an institution. They could also be afraid of hurting someone and the major thing would be hearing. He would have to learn sign language to communicate but he can actually hear everyone there saying. He felt very safe around McMurphy because he actually believes in him. He wants to escape with him to enjoy life together and not to be trapped in a place with schedule times also not have a nurse like Mrs. Ratchet that is the boss. The main goal is to get inside your head to speak out your personal feeling to the other patients there. Lastly, when Chief escape he could enjoy life the way he would like to. Have a nice job with new people like him and have a nice car to enjoy the outdoor lifestyle. He won't let anyone talk him down like nurse Ratched did.

Keisha Felcher. For me for the missing part is that Chief runs away from the hospital. He gets on a bus and sets out to go somewhere which he chooses New York. He gets a job at an auto body shop. His coworkers don’t know that he used to be in a mental hospital and that he escaped it. He rents his own apartment but he has a roommate with him too. Back at the hospital, Nurse Ratched is trying everything she can to find chief but nothing seems to be helping. Later on, years pass and no one has found chief yet. So they give up looking for him and chief lives a normal life like the rest of us.
The Sequel/Prequel that let us up to the novel could be Chief life before he was sent to the institutions and his childhood. His parents mostly his father could be really strict and quite. Something that could have happened in his past life could have changed the way he sees life forever and nothing can change that. When Chief was in school, he mostly gotten bullied and severely beaten up by his classmates that have to be disciplined all the time. It probably made him feel that it would make things easier if he just keeps his feels and actions inside then telling people how he felt. Chief is smarter than people think people wouldn’t give me crap how looks and etc. He tricked everyone on thinking he’s deaf but in reality, he can actually talk and ear everyone is saying around him. My favorite part is when Chief actually smiles and looks like he’s having fun and enjoying himself when he was playing basketball. My guessing is that Chief parents weren’t in his life while he was growing up and didn’t have much to say about sending him to the institutions and it would be a safer option too for Chief. They could also be scared or afraid of him hurting someone and the thing would be hearing. He would have learned sign language for people to communicate but he can actually hear and know what people are saying. I believe Chief felt safe and not worried about being around Mcmurphy because he actually believed in him then everyone else in his life. Chief was planning to escape for awhile but didn’t know the right time to do it. He wanted to enjoy his life and not be trapped in a place there’s scheduled times and not have a person like Mrs. Ratched that controlled everyone in the institutions and thinks she’s the boss.
I think after Chief escapes from the institution he spends a few days aimlessly running through the forests in Oregon and manage to never get screwed up with directions. I think Chief will eventually make it to Canada and live in the city, but finding work would be hard for him since he'll pretty much be living off the grid in Canada. I think Chief will be homeless for a month or to in Canada before finding work as a fisherman where he will have housing provided for him. Chief will live out the rest of his days as a deep sea fisherman and he will never speak to anyone about the hallucinations he sometimes still has or his past life in the institution. He might speak about his life before the institution like he did to McMurphy but he'll never talk about being in there himself. Chief will ignore is past and be just fine. I think that Nurse Ratchet will continue doing what she does until she gets old and retires. The institution will never improve as long as she is there. I don't think that this will be a story with a happy ending because happy endings don't usually happen in real life. They won't try very hard to find chief after he escapes and they'll probably just figure that he is better off dead. -Wardlow
I was thinking as a missing chapter would be about him describing his war life and getting into the hospital and in the missing chapter it will describe the horrible things that happened to him in the war being shot at and seeing his friend die and possible him being a prisoner of war and just showing how the Americans were even mean to him because he was half native American and then it can show him getting back to the states and showing how he couldn't adjust back to the world and so he had to go to a mental institute and about how he was put down by racist white people so he had to ct deaf and mute to get away without talking back to people and it will show the changes in the Institute for the first couple years he got there showing more background to him being there so we can see what kind of person he has been there .

I think a good prequel would be about everyone, taking turns on their lives before the institution. Like Billy, how he was in love with the girl he talked about, shows what he did say to her and how their friendship or relationship was like. How he and his moms' relationship was like before he admitted himself. Also, about McMurphy in the prison work camp and what he actually did there and how he got himself sent to the institution all the factors building up to it. It could show Miss Ratched at home, if she's married, in a relationship, has kids, or how she acts outside of working in the institution. If she is really just hard and stubborn. I also think that it should show what happens more after Mcmurphy dies, does Chief make it to Canada? What do they do with McMurphys' body? What do they do with Billy's body? How does everyone cope with McMurphy's death and Chief escaping? It should also show how Chief deals with the fact he "helped" the only person he ever got close with die and how he chooses to cope. What does the Chief do when he gets to Canada? Does he get a house? Does he find someone to love? Does he just end up getting put back into the institution? What happens to everyone after? Also, what happened to everyone before being admitted or admitting themselves? How does everyone feel that if they were let out right now, how would they do? Do they think they would do fine? Maybe alright? Would it be hard to adapt to the new surroundings and lifestyle? Would it be easy for them to find a job? To get a house or an apartment? Would any of them ever find love? Or would they just feel hopeless? -Zoie Hite

I believe as a sequel to one flew over the cuckoo's nest that chief had a life after he escaped. I believe that as chief escaped he did not run to Canada but he ran back to his homeland and tribe returning like a long lost son who has been found and ready to be a man and leader of the tribe like his father before him. Except he will be a true leader and not let the alcohol drink him like it did to his father. He learns to be strong again and leads his tribe to a thriving area where he lives out the rest of his life. He does not get married or have kids so that someone is not born into power but so someone has to learn leadership and be the next leader to the tribe.

The sequel to the movie. I think it would start were Chief has just escaped and the guards would have found Mcmurphy's dead body and would also be trying to keep the others from escaping. Then we would focus on Chief running through the feildes trying to escape to canada. Then the nurse and the other workers would arrive and see that chief had escaped and that Mcmurphy was dead at that point the nurse would tell the workers to watch the others and to call the police to find and hunt chief down to get him back at the ward. Then we go back and see chief still running trying to escape the century and that when i think that he would try to take a bus to get to canada but the cops would be searching for him and he would be unaware that he was being hunted. Then back at the ward the police would have arrived and would be asking questions about the incident that is where i think that chief would have been charged with murder and the others in the word would be in there individual rooms so they don't try to escape and would also be questioned by the cops to see if they know anything about were chief is going. Then we would go to where chief is trying to escape on a bus to canada by sneaking on board but before he could get on the bus the cops stop him from getting on the bus but just before chief was arrested he made a run for it moving as fast as he could he managed to lose the cops and then he needed to come up with another way to escape. So then that is where i believe that chief would have to run or walk to canada and then try to start a new life so he started running. Then back at the ward there was a lot more security because there was still a broken window but other than that everything was still the same although the others that were questioned about chief were wondering if he had made it out to canada yet because the cops have not yet given any updates on chief location. Then in the afternoon cheswick and the others got to thinking that mcmurphy was right that the nurse was strict and controlling so then they decided to also escape and find chief and get away from the ward. So then the plan was to use the broken window to try to make a break for it during the night butt the only problem was that there was a lot more security especially around the broken window then they thought that if they could cause a deverson like starting a fire the garudes would be distracted getting the other patients out and then they could escape in the chaos. Then as night fell they started with the plan first they use a piece of the broken window guard as a lock pick to open the gate and then the door to the office were all the cigarettes were then they would use a lighter and then light the cigarettes on fire then they scream fire then when everyone is in a panic they hurry and bolt out of the window one by one as fast as they can then hoping over the fence and then running down the road and heading off to find chiefThen we return back to chief who has been running for a few hours and was close to the border then he could escape then a hour later chief ran in to the others that escaped they told him that they were going with them they agreed to go together then they got to the border and made it to canda
Something they could have done to pick up the novel in the beginning is how everyone got in there. How everything there started and why they do what they do. Also i think it would be a good idea to start off with how the main characters like chief and mcmurphy grew up. We know chiefs dad was a hard alcoholic and always had a bottle in his hand so chiefs relationship with his father wasn’t as good as it should have been. He would get beaten and told to be quiet all the time and always being neglected by his father and that didn’t help him mentally in anyway. He barely ever talks and stays by himself most of the time. I feel as if there is more to his background we all should know about. Really get in his mind set and figure out what’s up. For McMurphy we know that he is a crazy individual and had a rough childhood as well. We dont know a lot about how he grew to be how he is and what made him the way he is.
I can honestly think that for a sequel after the movie is that it is life after chief left the institute he went to Canada and he lived the life of both himself and Mcmurphy. I believe that in the prequel of the movie it shows how the main characters got into the institute. Especially how McMurphy and the chief got in there. we know what for but it would show how they got in there and what they did. Then for the missing part, I would want to slightly show more of what happens in the hospital.
A missing part in this book is what happened when they took McMurphy back into the room. As they pulled McMurphy into the room. Because we don't know if he would have thrown up a fight or not. So im gonna make up the part that is missing in the story. So after they wheeled out Martine they had to bring in McMurphy after. I think he wouldn't have fought back when they brought him in. I think he just would have kept saying jokes the whole way back to the bed. I'm sure he tried to make a joke to the doctor and try to convince him not to give him that. Then they gave it to him and he freaked out and tried to get up after they already had him strapped down.

What a sequel/prequel could be that would interesting is that if chiefs narrations the book when he is already in the hospital maybe have a prequel about his life when he was a child I think that would be interesting to read about. It would start when he was a child and it shows that his family is not that kind to him his parents probably abuse their power of being in charge so they would probably demand things out of him and use him as a slave. it could be the simple things like getting me a drink or the hard things like go fix something on the house. I would think that parents would be really lazy and they just sit in a chair barking out an order to chief so he would have to do them. If Cheif ever talks back or said this was too hard for him when he gets a beating and that's probably why he got so strong too because he had to do everything because his parents didn't want to do any of the hard work. He probably didn't live in the house after his parents went to bed because if you use your son as a slave you probably don't care too much about him so therefore he probably lived outside in a shed and when the morning came his probably got up and sat in a chair and then started barking out orders again. He probably did that throught his child hood only got talk down so when he got older he probably left because he didn't care to stay and then he tried to live in the real world but he couln't because he didn't want to talk to people because he was afraid that he would get yelled at so people thought he couln't talk so they put him in the hostipal that he in the movie because people think that he can't or hear because he doesn't do anything when you talk to him
