What is best about what you read? I like the setting of this story. The story is written about the future. None of us know what it is actually going to be like, but this story helps us to at least think about what it could be like. It was interesting to think about all of the changes that could take place in the world. I also really liked the part where he broke free from the chains. I think that this part helped him show leadership to others. He was able to stand up for what he believed in and got others to follow him. He was able to show his strength, but also that he was wanting to be himself. He didn’t want to be like the others. He wanted to be his own individual. That part I think is true about today. People want to express themselves and we can celebrate each person for who they truly are. Everyone has strengths and talents that should be celebrated. I can relate to this part as I love bowling and I have a different talent than some of my friends do.
What symbols can you find? The symbols that I found was the fact that he was trying to go against other people- being defiant to the rules of the government. Bravery, courage, power, and being an individual were also symbols that I found in this story. I also think that the symbols of being equal and handicaps were symbols in the story as well.
Why is this story famous? Why is this poem famous? I read on Wikipedia “it is a science fiction short story published in 1961. It was first published in The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction. The story received the 2019 Hall of Fame Award from the Libertarian Futurist Society”. The poem (song) that I chose is famous from the movie “The Greatest Showman”. The song is called “This is me”. There are many things that are like the story of Harrison Bergeron.

There was nothing good about it. It was just a terrible story that made it so no one could be them selfs. Every one had to have the same strength and the same intelligence. I would hate to live in a worlds like that where people can’t be there best. They where all just getting put down if they try to be them selfs. Emagen in the government tried to say if you don't meat these requirements we will be putting stuff on you to. And others will have different handicaps. They don't ask you for your permission and if you try to fight them they kill you or put you in jail. I found the government had a lot of control and also that the metal that was on the guy broke really easy saying that he could be the best at sports just that he is being held back. He wanted to be a god because they chained him up like a dog and if a human is chained up like that for to long the start to go to ways other they are very important or they don’t want to live any more. And the lady stading up taking the opportunity to feel really important because the government is trying to say you are no different then the rest. I think the poem is fames because it shows what are government could be if we don’t try and keep it under restrictions. It can be controlling and never let us be are selfs and if we try to defy it. It will put us down with out a second thought. The guy that wanted to be emperor had the some what of the right idao but he did the wrong move he could have told the people that they all have there own things about them. And they should rise up.

What is the best about what I read is that when the part of the poem that talks about when it was doozy wasn’t it and then they talk about how George's son is in jail and they said that it was doozy. Another part that was the best is when they told hazel to go stretch out on the couch and they were going towards the 47 pounds of birdshot in a canvas bag I thought that they were not thinking that cause for someone to take a doozy on the couch for me in my head is not to lay down on the couch and stretch I thought they were meaning to take a nap. What symbols can you find? Some symbols that I could find is that Harrison Bergeron is a symbol of a new society of the way it should be. Another one is that when he is free from the handicaps like much of the society is as a whole and if the handicaps were removed. The last symbol that I could find in this story at least is that Harrison Bergeron is also very versatile in this story from going to something and doing something else. Why is this story famous? This is famous for and this story is mostly about how the American government controls its citizens using cruel and with mental and physical handicaps. They also have to deal with death penalties for disobeying the law and the rules. They are trying to use the propaganda to make every citizen equally so no ones have to fight or get jealous because someone has something that everyone wants and then they can't get it because they have all of it so make every citizen to right amount rules and laws to have then hopefully everyone will be happy.

What is best about what you read? I think the best part about what I read is when Harrison was the person to actually fight back against the government and that he showed so much courage and bravery to stand up to the government like that. I also liked that he got other people to be free from the government but it was short-lived but with just a few minutes Harrison got his dream and he met his destiny when he got those few minutes before he shot and was dead before he hit the ground. The poem that I found is a lot like the Harrison poem because it is about this 16-year-old who had to get his leg amputated because of his conditions from tuberculosis, and later he was told that he might need to get his other leg amputated but he went one of best surgeons at Edinburgh and after many surgical interventions in the foot they were able to save his leg. Then when he was recovering in the infirmary he started writing and he wrote a poem about his life/journey and how he didn’t let one leg being amputated affect the rest of his life, he called his poem Invictus by William Earnest Henley and Invictus in Latin means unconquerable.
What symbols can you find? The symbols that I found in the poem are when he was showing courage of breaking his chains so then he would be at his full potential and he was also showing bravery by standing up against the government when it was at its strongest form. I also think that this relates to the poem that I found because Henley expresses his courage against difficulties and to clarify the feelings and images mentioned in his poem, he also says Out of the night that covers me” in the first line and night is being used as a symbol because it represents his hardships, sufferings and the pain of worldly existence.
Why is this story famous? Why is this poem famous? The reason why I think this story is famous is that when Harrison is just one man and he was willing to stand up to the whole government and basically tell them that everyone should be unique and that he wanted to show everyone that every single person is different and unique. The reason why I think the poem that I found is famous is that Henley’s story shows/tells everyone that nothing can stop you from becoming what you want to become and nothing will affect your life unless you let it, henley didn’t let his amputation stop his life or stop him from evolving into something more and he was a very strong-minded person.

The best thing that I read in the short story was when they talked about how the guy goes off the girl because she is more inntegine and knows more. The sad thing I learned about this story is that they think that everyone was going crazy and that they were going to have a longer winter because spring was not hitting and he or the author talked about how people were going nuts and stuff over that. I find that sad because for example right now everyone is going crazy over this coronavirus we got going around so I know how it feels. I find it very cool that the story was written about the future and we have no idea what is going to happen. What symbols can you find? The symbols that I found was the fact that he was trying to go against other people- being up towards the rules t to the rules of the government. strong, courage, and constantly pushing, and being an individual were also symbols that I found in this story. I also think that the symbols of being equal and handicaps were symbols in the story as well. Why is this poem famous? The reason why I think this story is famous is that when Harrison is just one man and he was willing to stand up to the whole government and basically tell them that everyone should be unique and that he wanted to show everyone that every single person is different and unique. The reason why I think the poem that I found is famous is that Henley’s story shows/tells everyone that nothing can stop something you want to happen. Another symbol I found is how they talk about standing up against the government and not with it because that is okay at times but I do not think that people realize that.

What is best about what I read? I like the part where it talks about the guy on the television and how he is trying to say news to the people but he is struggling to do that. Another part that I like from the story was the parts where it keeps saying “it is such a doozy”. It says this quite a bit throughout the whole story. I also think the part where Harrison is going back and forth with the government trying to fight with the government going against the government. I like this story. It really is a good story and it has a lot of meaning. What are some symbols that I can find? One of the symbols that I found is that Harrison is strong and brave and that he is a fighter. Another symbol I found is the courage that he has and being an individual. I really like this story because it shows what can happen in the future and that is what we wonder sometimes about what is going to happen in the future. This story is a really good story and this story has a lot of meaning and truth. Why is this story famous? This story is famous because of how Harrison does everything to fight against the government to win and how brave and strong he is and how he stands up for himself and everyone else and how he ever gives up on what he believes. Why is this prom famous? The reason why the poem I chose is famous is because it tells and talks about trying something different and new and not always doing what everyone else is doing and to try something new and different and something that stands out and has a uniqueness to it and something that can make a difference in the world.

What is best about what I read? Well really like how the author thinks and how creative he is with the setting and just overall idea of the story. I really like how when your reading the story it makes you feel kinda curious and scared for the future and when I was reading I was wondering the whole time what it would be like for me and my family. I also think that it is very interesting how the dad can even live with himself and just puts up with that ringing in his ear. You can tell when you watch the movie that everyone has kinda given up on life and they are just trying to walk the course just to get through. Some symbols that I see in the story are when Harrison is standing on stage and he breaks his handicaps. Another one is when he is standing on stage and he says he has a bomb detonator in his hand but really it is just a thing that turns the TV back on so everyone will turn against the lady that killed him. I think that this story is famous because it really can touch everyone’s heart and it makes you think hard about life and how we live very freely here.

What is best about what you read? The best of what I read was when the entire piece! It was interesting that the government was trying to keep intelligent and strong to be less intelligent and weak. I think this shouldn’t be happening because we are all special and unique to each one of us. Humans are all unique, we each have different qualities and characteristics that make the world function. Being different from others is great because we have more diversity and we don’t get caught up in the idea that we can’t do what others can do, but we can do things that others can’t. The part when they put the handicaps on their heads how can we as a society improve and grow our technology advancements because we are limited. We can’t improve or go forward with technology or medicine. We will just stay, we won’t let people develop their thoughts and make our lives better in some way.
What symbols can you find? The government was like trying to be or play “God.” They were trying to make everyone the same and trying to do the right thing even though it is not.
Why is this story famous? Why is this poem famous?
The story is famous because maybe many people would like this society because they feel inferior to others. In this future, the government has a lot of power over us and they could do this. I wouldn’t be surprised if the government didn’t do things like this to keep everyone in line and limit our abilities. They have the power it could happen. The only smart people are the government in the story. They are making the population be the same, but they are not making themselves like that because they can still think and have thoughts. They are not limited, they have the power. They have the ability to control people to do what they want them to do and be.

What is best about what you read? The best part about this book that i read was when harrison bergeron when everyone was scared when harriosen came in the built and when every who went down to the ground like they were about to die from him but harriosen just show the people in the studio how he took of his handicap glass and headphone and try to show them he can become some that he want to become and say how he want an empress and how he actually got the one and show all the handicap people how to dance. Another part I like about the book was when
What symbols can you find? Harrison Bergeron is a symbol in this story. He was a young man who was handicap who was arrested for trying to take over the government. But that was false. He just wanted to show people he could change by taking off his handicap to show people that they are not that very different from other people. Another symbol in this book was when the lady who would cry for no reason out of nowhere and people asking her why are you crying but she would never have the answer for them. Well i think she is crying cause maybe she knew people in that studio or place where they were doing a radio show and and maybe she heard those shot by that girl who killed harrison and and the other handicap girl and maybe it brought back bad memberrese for her
Why is this story famous? Why is this poem famous? The reason this story is famous is cause it show how an handcap man who try to achieve his goal but it went horribly wrong for him

The best about what I read is how it connected to the past and what some people had faced during that time. It also explains shortly how that time looked like for the people that faced the struggle. The symbol that I think there in this poem is "being yourself". The reason why I think this story is famous is because it teaches courage and also the history that has happened in the past. The symbol in Harrison Bergeron is the handicaps, the birdshot, and Harrison Himself. The story Is famous because of a science-fiction short story by American writer Kurt Vonnegut, first published in October 1961.

I would like to say that this writing was amazing It was something that I went back to read it again for me the best part about it is the end as everything just went back to normal for the couple in the end as they weren't affected by it in the end as they just went back to it was just a twist that I wasn't expecting to see The symbols I found were the handicaps as the world was supposed to be dulled down for everyone to live the same and people accepted it as it would be the same for all no one would be different in any way for looks, smarts or lifestyle it was something I truly wasn't expecting, in the end, hoping that the man would listen to it as he was clearly struggling with seeing someone torn away from him and it clearly affecting him but he still didn't do anything to stop it or to help himself.

What is best about what you read?I like the set area like it was written about the future and no one knows what the future could hold. We make assumptions about it but in reality we will now know what it holds until it's here. It was intriguing that the story showed us all the things the future holded in the story and its cool to think that could end up happening. I think the other best part where he really showed his strength and it represents how we are self and no one else can be us. I think it represents stuff accurate today that people always want to express who they are and we kind of support or atleast try to support everyone in their differences hopefully in the future everyone can get better at letting people grow their own way and become who they want to be. Everyone has their own skills and is born with some and everyone should show the world their talent and use it to change the world. And how he did this in the story was by him breaking free from the chains.
What symbols can you find? Being a rebel and fighting the unfair rules of the government. Him breaking free of course from the chains. This story symbolizes Bravery, Courage , Power and being individual instead of everyone being alike.
Why is this story famous?I think its famous cause it really shows what the future can hold and it was very intriguing. Its making me think like how much could change and how much would stay the same.

What is best about what I read? Going through what I read and all the things that happened, I would have to say when Harrison broke out of prison and went against the government. That was the true changing point of the short story. Then he was able to find the most beautiful dancer out of them all and danced with her. With this in the story, it was an amazing turning point in the movie. With me, the symbols were little to none for me. One symbol would be the defects of the people. They were a symbol of the negativity in the world and how everyone cant deal with you is amazing. This story is famous due to the way the story goes by showing what would have to happen if we made everyone equal.

In the story of “Harrison Bergeron,” there are many symbols. The first symbol that stood out to me was the canvas bags of birdshot attached to people who were stronger than others to slow them down and the devices in some people’s ear that make various sounds to disrupt there thinking so not one person can come up with smarter thoughts than others. In this period of time, they made out a special organization where they equip everyone with a naturally born advantage with these canvas bags to weigh them down and the earpieces to disrupt there thinking so know one could overrun or do anything on there own free will without regulations. There son Harrison was born stronger and much smarter than most people at the time, because of this the organization took him into custody and made special equipment to keep him as equal as the people who don’t need any additional handicaps. These people were afraid of Harrison because he was much stronger than everyone else and they tried to control him by locking him up from the public and adding many handicaps on him so he would be as equal as everyone else. After Harrison broke out of “prison” and instead of trying to flee and escape. Harrison went to the music that was being broadcasted on TV, possibly the only channel that they were allowed to watch. Once he was there he gave a short speech on who he was and how he claimed he was going to change things. As this was going on his parents was watching him on the TV, however, they like most people who would not be able to remember it or comprehend on what was going on at the time. The theme of this story is everyone should not try to be treated or created the same. Everyone has there strengths and weakness and if you take away everyone’s strenth you’ ur only left with weakness.
